A question: What created the circular waves in the water? Some kid near the blue car?

The waves were intentionally created by my photo partner just for fun. I also have one with a huge splash crater and a couple without.

If you look carefully, there are literally dozens of small elongated spots, both in the clouds and in their reflection in the water. Since I don’t see any in the second shot (although there are less white clouds as a background and the exposture is shorter - 1/40 vs 1/15), i’m going to agree with Linda and chgcanon that it must be debris or insects in the first shot.

I had not noticed that the spots were reflected in the pool. That pretty much eliminates the dust theory. Might have been bugs, although I didn't notice any in the air at the time the shot was taken. Thank you all for the input.

Did that, still didn't see any spots. But then I am 75 so guess these old eyes can be excused.

OK, GOT IT. I WAS LOOKING TO HIGH.... Need another shot where that spot on the shot is in a clear place. Shoot the sky or a white sheet of paper.

I have already shot test shots on a white background. No spots.

I shot some scenery yesterday and after processing I found that a couple of the images have spots on them that look like dust. I don't think dust is the problem, but you can see the spots in the clouds just above the pond..

Shot with 5d mk 4 and 24-105 L II. Breakthrough CP . 1/15 f11 24MM. Processed in PS Raw. There is no dust on the lens or the filter, and after I discovered these spots I set up a white board and shot some test shots at the same settings, and there were no spots. Also checked several other similar scenes that I shot around the same time and in the same area and there are no spots.

#1 shows spots, while #2 does not appear to have the problem. There was no lens change or opening of the camera between these two shots. Any thoughts or suggestions???

It's pretty clear in Northwest NM right now, but it has been bad the last couple of weeks. I would say that if there are no more fires between now and your trip yo will be fine.

I have a Breakthrough 3 and 6 that when stacked will give me 9. I also have Lee's in some different stops and graduations. I have everything sized for my biggest lens and use step rings for smaller lenses.

My personal experience in using both Lee and Breakthrough is that Lee has some color cast while Breakthrough does not.

I would guess that you do not have enough power coming out of a P&S to shoot through anything that might give you softer light. Same will be the case with trying to bounce the light. There is just too much light lost from a source that has no light to spare. Even the tissue paper solution will probably cut the power of the light in half.

If you don't already have it, the 18-135 nano USM is a very good lens on a Canon crop frame. It will give you equivalent of 28.8 mm to 216 mm. This is a pretty decent range for your intended purposes. When I was shooting crop frame, an earlier version of this lens was the one I used more than any other.

"Million Dollar Highway", "Silver Thread" (South Fork to Lake City). Delores to Ridgeway, Great Sand Dunes, Crested Butte, Black Canyon, and Rocky Mountain National Park.

And for photographers, the Silverton Train is having a photographer's special Sept. 22 and 23. The photography train does not go all the way to Silverton, but it stops several times, lets passengers off, then backs up and comes steaming toward you. I did the winter version of this last year and it was great. Am planning to do this one also.

Quite possibly another section could have been used or another method, but the OP most certainly has right to share his experience on the forum. I really don't believe the money was an issue. Maybe someone else will be careful in their dealing, no matter the value of the item.

I don't blame the OP. He opened up and trusted someone and got burned. It's not about the value, it's about honor and integrity. A quality this country seems to be lacking right now, and a personal shaming just might be in order.

Whether Nikon or Canon, I would try to replace with a FF. Canon a 6d Mk II or a 5d Mk 4. If you go Nikon a D750 or D850. Of course if you really need the 10+fps then the D500 Nikon or another 7d Mk II would possibly be better choices.

Just bear in mind that there is going to be a pretty big learning curve if you make the switch. I have shot Canon for years and when I pick up a Nikon, it is pretty foreign to me. The same is true of Nikon people that try my Canon.

Glad to hear about LowPro customer service. I just got a Flipside 500. Really seems like a good pvk, but it holds so much I can't carry it.

It might work to find some nylon webbing of the proper size and have a shoe repair place add what you need to the existing belt.

For sure, unless you are a news photographer do not photograph policemen doing their job or you could be ARRESTED. The officers could or could not be right but there is nothing worse than a pissed off policeman and here that is not difficult to see.
I do not make the laws, I only want to know my rights.

Being illegally arrested for committing a legal act would result in a very nice payday even though it might take some time and money. I could give you case law on what happens when police overstep and someone takes the time to contest it. Usually costs the offending agency a bit of change to make it go away, and often results in an in depth look at policy and sometimes consent decrees.

If you only want to know your rights, it has been pointed out by numerous posters that there is no existing law concerning your original question, or the question of photographing law enforcement. You might be harassed or even arrested, but if you are, you have very strong legal recourse. I guess it just depends on whether you are willing to fight the fight.

I know that filming police officers with a video camera is strictly prohibited.

According to this it is not illegal to video police officers in public places.
