Would appreciate any help making this photo pop some more....cloudy day, shot hand-held at 30 ft or so. Seems to be a problem of mine that skies always look washed out. Don't know if it's my eyes or my skills? Canon 60D with a Tamron 18 - 400 lens.

here you go glad to help out. edit down in Lightroom corrected white balance used camera faithful profile adjusted highlights, shadows, white and black, used brush with automask to brighten and sharpen the bird. also cropped image, overall sharpened and added a vignette

I like the idea of the darkened sky. Did you introduce gray to the snow up by the barn or was that there?

I introduced some blue but in the shadows of the foreground snow

Very distinctive and creative, thank you! Can you add a yellowish light coming out of the house's windows?

I tried, the windows are not lit at all so it just doesn't quite look right!

I'm currently contemplating to buy the course. The one I'm looking at is Adobe Photoshop CC: The Complete Guide by Ben Willmore, CreativeLive. It's on sale for $129.00 US which offers 21 lessons. He uses Photoshop 2015.

I was wondering which course you would suggest for me to purchase? I have Adobe Photoshop CC 2019.

I own this course it was is the most complete work on photoshop extremely well taught and explained. Ben is an excellent teacher. At 129 it is a bargain you should not miss

Hi all,
I'm looking into buying a new tripod and i found the Robus RC-5570. I will be shooting with a f2.5 400mm lens and I also stand 6'3. i will need a big tripod and i was hopping that someone here can tell what they feel about the tripod.
thanks
Sean

Just got mine it is solid easy to use and very well made and stable. I stand almost 6’ 2” and in retrospect could have gotten away with the 5558 (a foot shorter). By the time you add your tripod head and camera it adds about a foot and the 58 is $50 less.

This morning I got a Lightroom Classic update notice. It goes from 8.1 to 8.2 Other than the usual new cameras and fixes it has a new menu choice in the Photo menu. It is "Enhance Details".

It won't work on my machine because mine is still running Windows 1803. Adobe says I need 1809 "Fall Update".

Adobe describes this as, "Achieve crisp detail and improved color rendering in raw images that is powered by Adobe Sensei. Introduced in the February 2019 release of Lightroom Classic (version 8.2) and powered by Adobe Sensei, Enhance Details produces crisp detail, improved color rendering, more accurate renditions of edges, and fewer artifacts. Enhance Details is especially useful for making large prints, where fine details are more visible. This feature applies to raw mosaic files from cameras with Bayer sensors (Canon, Nikon, Sony, and others) and Fujifilm X-Trans sensors."

Anybody got the Windows Fall Update that can try this? Does it work?

I haven't tried it yet however I watched an extensive video on the feature offered by Ben Wilmore. He indicates that if your camera has an anti alias filter that this new feature will basically do nothing. The feature builds a dng file (quite large, about double your raw file size), requires a pretty hefty high memory video card to perform well and that the improved detail would be most noticeable deeper into your scene and less so where the focus is crisp in the foreground elements. Based on this video I suspect most of us will have very little use for this feature...

if it were mine I would try cropping up from just the bottom. I think it will improve the visual interest and cropping will also remove the bottom left rock....

Why wouldn’t hyperfocal focus be a good way of handling this and also provide for the foreground being in focus?
