B&H has the D7500 refurb for $599 - seems a great deal. I bought mine when they were $799 - it came in a Nikon refurb box with a 0 Shutter Count.

Same here and I love my D7500 Nikon refurb. I kept my D5300 as a backup. Both will be going to Antarctica in December. The D7500 has been called a mini D500 because it has the same sensor and many other capabilities, though fewer AF points.

Thanks to all for the great info, which is very helpful as I decide how to replace Aperture.

As most of you, or many of you may already be aware, the Collings Foundation WWII B-17 crashed today at Bradley International Airport. ....

Great pictures of the nine-o-nine! As others have also noted, this was truly a devastating accident. Hopefully, this won't derail the educational mission of Collings Foundation.

I live in the next town from Collings HQ, Stow, MA and have visited the museums and events there many times. Here is a link to last year's WW2 Battle for the Airport re-creation and grand opening of the Heritage Museum.

The 2019 Battle for the Airport is coming up soon, but the Collings website is silent on it, just showing a statement about the crash.

And during the 90's, we had a drink at the Raffles Long Bar, home of the Singapore Sling. It looks to be re-done, but still has the trademark ceiling fans.

Nice pictures. I was in Singapore in the 1990s on business and found it very safe and clean. In fact, chewing gum is illegal. You can go just about anywhere via mass transit. There is surveillance everywhere, including photo radar at every light, I have read. Owning a car there is very expensive. There was just a Formula One race there Sunday and I noticed many new buildings, especially the Marina Bay Sands Skypark, which looks like a ship atop 3 towers.

The original question was to compare LR, PS and PSE. You're adding a new topic looking for an Aperture replacement. In the Adobe universe LR is the Aperture replacement. In your list DXO, Luminar, Exposure, Capture One, Blue Marine, ON1, and Raw Therapee are parametric editors like LR and Aperture. There is a wide variety of features across that list. Affinity Photo and Photoscape X are raster editors like PS and PSE. If I were replacing Aperture LR would be high on my list of choices as would be Capture One.

Thanks so much. Sorry about expanding the topic, but there seemed to be a lot of relevant knowledge and experience reflected in this thread.

Lots of great Info in this thread! I have used Aperture, and sometimes PSE for pixel level editing, for years and am trying to decide how to replace Aperture since Apple has abandoned it. Would Aperture be considered a non-destructive, non-layered parametric editor like LR?

I don't recall anyone in this thread mentioning any alternative DAM/editing apps: (not in any particular order and excluding Windows-only ones):
- DXO Photolab
- Luminar 3
- Affinity Photo (Not a DAM)
- Alien Skin Exposure
- Capture One
- Blue Marine (LINUX only?)
- ON1 Photo Raw
- Photoscape X
- Raw Therapee

Are any of these worth evaluating as an Aperture replacement?

Haven't checked that. It wouldn't affect my use case.
If I remember, I'll try this later today.

My use is for backup traveling/on the go. Is to have a second copy of the SD card (that I will stop using for the rest of the trip). So I wouldn't try to backup the same card with additions

I am using 64GB SD cards, which I do not erase, but keep as one form of backup. Each day while travelling, I backup the SD card to my MBP. As the SD Card fills up, without incremental backup, it takes longer and longer, while the number of folders grows, consuming memory unless you erase the older ones.

... Just bought the RavPower a month ago, and have only make tests on it (very fast and reliable so far). No field real-world usage yet.

I am working on a comparison spreadsheet and ran across this review:
https://havecamerawilltravel.com/photographer/ravpower-filehub/
It includes a comment that the RavPower does not support incremental backup, but creates a new timestamped folder each time you transfer data from a SD card to the SSD. Does yours do that?

Thanks to all who replied. I found a MyPassport Wireless SSD WD, answering my original question, at https://www.techradar.com/reviews/wd-my-passport-wireless-ssd
But it looks very expensive...about $700 for 2TB and there are many negative reviews. There seem to be many available alternatives:
Two box solutions:
1. RavPower File Hub 2019 + WD My Passport SSD (as posted by juan_uy)
2. RavPower File Hub 2019 + Samsung T5 portable (up tp 2TB) solid state drive
3. Kingston Mobilelite Wireless Pro + WD My Passport SSD
4. Kingston Mobilelite Wireless Pro + Samsung T5 portable
Single box solutions:
5. Lacie DJI CoPilot (link posted by rgrenaderphoto)
6. MyPassport Wireless SSD WD
7. Gnarbox 2.0 (As just posted by Jagnut07)

Comments based on your experience will be much appreciated. I will be doing a comparison to decide which way to go to avoid hauling my MacBook Pro (or it's new 16" replacement) to Antarctica in December.

somebody spoke of a LaCie unit recently, that had a SD card slot, screen to see things, etc.; think it was about $450; all of a sudden, can't remember the name of the unit; if anyone does, can that someone compare it to this DJI CoPilot unit ?

The link posted by rgrenaderphoto shows that the DJI Copilot is made by Lacie. It looks good, with 2 TB for $349.

I think the 16" MBP is about to come out, so I will wait to replace my maxed out 2014 15". It will also have a more reliable keyboard design. Beware of some models that have been recalled for battery ignition..there was a recent UGH thread on that causing air travel angst..

The WD My Passport Wireless Pro USB 3.0 External Hard Drive, with it's SD slot, looks like a great way to back up images/movie clips from SD cards without using a laptop. Does anyone know of a flash drive equivalent, perhaps based on the Samsung T5 portable (up tp 2TB) solid state drive?

I also like the Tamron 18-400, which several have recommended above. Because it is designed for DX format, it is smaller and lighter than a 400mm FX lens would be. You can AF fine tune it and apply the corrections using a $60 Tapin Console. It also focuses down to about 18". However, it has focus breathing, so they didn't bother with a distance scale on the focus ring.

I also want to say thanks, having learned a lot from this thread. Several of you have proposed panoramic shots stitched in LR. with about 25% overlap. Can that be done shooting hand held or must you use a tripod with panoramic head?
