Nice shot especially at the distance it was taken with everything in focus. Too bad you couldn't have run down the square rigger, it may have made a spectacular photo for wall hanging.

Linda, They are all nice shots. I have to ask was that a GBH? I've seen some big ones here on the Eastern Shore of MD, but never one almost as tall as the lower branch of a mostly fully grown tree, nor one that equaled the top wire of what I assume is an electrified fence. If not a GBH what was it?

Thanks for hosting this old car contest but it came too late for me. We had just returned from a trip and I had not PP any of the photos, but I posted photos of the #1 Packard in the Photo Gallery last week. It is probably the oldest car photo submitted.

TheDarkroom.com website says they process “old” film.

And give them an estimate of how old the film is; it will warn them of the problems. I processed some B&W WW II surplus film back in the mid-late seventies in a cellar dark room area, and they came out fine. As has been suggested any problems are probably due to age and storage especially for color film.

The address was in Lat/Lon numbers, but you must have or can download google maps; get it and put in the street address and you will be able to get a 360 deg view.

Thank you. My intention is not to sell prints, so I have not listed any prices (although the woman running the venue has "suggested" pricing a few times). I have listed on the labels the title, the format, the size, and my email address. If someone is interested in purchasing a work, I'll negotiate something, and likely give the proceeds to my church.

I doubt you will get too many calls about price negotiation unless your prices are in the over $150; people in open shows make a decision based on the price shown which is why most photographers list an email address on the label or an NFS if not for sale at all. Most shows around here, Eastern Shore MD want matching frames from a photographer, except for unframed sizes have a top limit for space allocation, but if you are submitting thirty photo prints that is probably a concern for a future show.

Good luck, let us know how you do.

I am one of many that has the monthly subscription with Adobe, which includes Lightroom CC and PS. I am wondering if I'm the only one that avoids PS because it is a major learning curve? I love learning which I do each day but this seems different for some unknown reason!

Feiertag, Learning PS, unless you have some experience with complex PP programs, is a bit like eating an elephant--you have to go bite by bite. As "Linda from Maine" suggested, why not cancel the subscribution when Adobe puts the new PSE at introductory sales price (usually at the larger big box stores) for about $39.00 for the Disk. You will break even in three months and have about 85%+ of the tools of cc. PSE is much easier to learn and the print published manuals are only about 1/2" thick vs. 1+" for the cc program and plenty of help is available here for free..

PS: I gave up with Lightroom for the same reason you are having problems with cc, and use PSE14 with a bit of Topaz Adjust, and for special printing needs, PSE10. The 14, 18 & Topaz all reside in the computer memory so it is easy to switch from one to the other.

You are quoting anecdotes rather than actual statistics. Check out the books by Professor John Lott who has more actual research in this area than anyone that I know of.

Of course there are times when an armed bystander has been mistaken by the police or another armed bystander as, the shooter. These cases are pretty rare. Thousands and thousands of incidents are on record of citizens protecting themselves and others, both at home and in public.

I agree, but the OP was not talking about a typical situation, ie. in a church, but in what could be a very congested area of innocents, perhaps 40 at an early AM service or maybe a hundred later in the day, and the shooter as professed is the 92 year old woman which is not to say younger adults, licensed or not, are all WELL trained and practice..

I still maintain that the situation could lead less than desirable injuries or deaths.

So what can you do to save your camera from salt air? NOTHING! Salt air and camera's simply do not mix.

It might help to wipe it down with warm water rag and after it dries, store it in a zip-lock or other airtight bag before putting it in the camera case.

I've been taking cameras out on our boats for 30+ years and haven't had any problem with the limited amount of salt carried in the air, but if it is a sloppy day, the camera stays in the cabin.

Would you believe the pastor ask anyone with a carrier permit to start packing at the services, and anyone that does not have a permit the course will be held this Thursday evening. I can see 92 years old Ms Parker, who's seat is 2 pew isle whip out a .44 mag, MAKE MY DAY SUNNY!!

Your comments Please

I can also foresee 92 year old Ms. Parker, with her anxiety & adrenaline stirring, missing her intended target and hitting a church member, or several people being armed and decide to shoot back, the church could turn into an indoor circular firing squad.

A couple of younger and trained people might be an answer, but this is folly.

I gave up on PSE's Organizer some years ago after it mixed up files to a 'fair thee well". Better to use Windows Photo manager or Photo viewer. Why insist on doing it the hard way?

I tried LR with their 30 day trial. You may like it, but for a lot of people it is just too d_ _ _ much trouble to use and learn. On occasion, if a shoot is very important (kids' weddings etc.) I'll shoot in RAW but it too seems to require a lot more PP time.

Nice pictures! I've done several air shows and the conditions aren't always as favorable as you had.

I also have PSE 10 still on my computer but upgraded to the now old, PSE14; it has one big advantage over PSE10 and that is the Haze Removal tool. I find myself using it a lot even if there isn't much haze as it will also enhance colors and IMHO it frequently does a better job and faster than fussing around with the PSE tools and doing a lot of 'undoes'.

You mention having problems with the Windows Photo file. I set up a sub folder to the built in Windows and within that a "Temporary Hold" folder. I can then make duplicates, review them and edit at my leisure and not run any risk of losing the original file. When I'm done I move them into a file by subjects and year taken.

Nice shot and holds a lot of interesting items. As a NJ native, ex-resident and lifelong boater this type of picture always interests me. I am surprised to see so many of the boats with the same color scheme, unless they are from the same fleet.

mffox, They are both very nice images, but if I have to chose between the two, I prefer the second. The improved clarity of the water and the visibility of the stones below the water adds interest. I know that shouldn't be a criteria for judging landscapes, but contest judges ignore guidelines too.
