Hi all, this is for our northern hemisphere members who are so cold, with ice and snow. it wasn't very hot this day around 26c, but a few days earlier we had 46c-114f, which is far to hot. Oh I am originally from Liverpool UK, and can remember the cold wet winters , and I hope ,no more of them for me.

thanks Viccksart, yes I was just lucky re the light on the cocky, the sun was very low, not to far from sunset, and it gave a nice yellow glow on the bird, in normal bright sunlight ,they just look real white, thanks for looking colin

thanks Jim, I've had a DSLR now for about 18mths and through the Hog I think I am learning a bit, the only trouble at 76, the blotting paper between the ears does not soak up much info as in yrs gone by.
oh , how St Helens doing these days, as a lad from Huyton who used to live in Prescott, and worked at PBs, I haven't been there for around 15yrs cheers Colin

thanks Dook, I agree with some clouds to me a photo looks so much more alive, its like a sunset with no background or building, trees etc looks a bit flat,

out here in Aus, a sunset which is always said to be fantastic, is at Broome WA, its just the sun setting on the sea, and to be honest I think it is boring , not like one with say trees ,or even clouds in the shot, they to me are good..
cheers Colin ,

Thanks for the idea Bob, but in this case I wanted to leave some foliage in the shot, but I thank you for your comments, OH by the way, the bird iS not an OWL, its a Cockatoo ,of which we have many species here in Aus, and they can be very destructive, cheers Colin

Thought I would report back to let everyone know what happened to the WHite browed scrub Wren that was nesting under the cushions, well im sorry to say its not good news, after several weeks of nesting, she just flew away and that was that,Mother Natures way,

I have included a couple of shots I got a few nights ago, of a Cockatoo having a feed, just to close on a brighter note

you may remember this, but no happy ending

G/Day from Aus, now most people think of Aussie, as the land of SUN,SUN,SUN, but no its not always like that, these shots where taken on a very wild day, and I mean WILD, at a local beach, just a few weeks ago

not the place to be in this wind

Hi from Australia, go for it, the 600D is very good, I have had mine for 20months, and an well pleased with it, I am now looking at better lenses, for what I want to do in photograph, but don't put let that comment put you off, as I was advised before I got mine, the 600D is a good camera even with the kit lenses, learn with them for a while, then when you really know what you are doing, change your lenses if need be, I have the 18x55 and 55x250 kit lenses, and they are not to bad, I know there are better, much better lenses, but at a price, regards Colin
