Took NASCAR quite awhile to figure it out..... "Finally got it rite. . . "
Been watching events since 1948. Sunday afternoons. Large field, Menominee, Mich.
$ .10 a ticket. Rule #1: All drivers must wear football helmet. #2. All vehicles MUST have large hook on dashboard! Why? The vehicle [mostly fords and chev} raced in 2nd gear.
Think of letter "H". 2nd. gear was in top of right line. If U didn't have a hook on dash board... the minute U took foot off gas pedal, the gear shift would fall out of 2nd. gear position. . . .
Since '48? That's cool! Then you would most definitely remember Junie Donlavey - #90. I was his race team chaplain for the last 13 years before the shop closed up. I got that gig through a relationship with Motor Racing Outreach.

Those are nice shots! Love the first one with the collection of former drivers. What year did you take these?

If you can get it sneaking thru those clouds you might get a great shot. Sometimes bad situations can yield a great shot.

That is very true! Gonna go out to see for sure.

I was hoping to try for a shot, but our weather forecast is uncertain at best. I also read on some Astronomy post that the "best" shooting time and the closest approach to earth will be about 8:54 AM EST--nice, don't have to get up in the middle of the night, but also said it would be in the North East to Eastern sky. At that time of the morning it is almost full daylight here with the sun also rising in the east. How do you shoot the moon with the sun in close proximity??

I'll be using a Canon 60D and a Tamron 70-300 mm lens.

I'm hoping to shoot the moon at it's setting on Monday morning, 6:35 a.m. With the calls for clouds and rain Monday, I'm hoping there's no clouds and rain early.

Smarty phone cameras have surely come a long way and I enjoy using mine. As I've mentioned before in other posts, I have a friend who has mastered the art of iphone photography and sells her work. It hangs on the walls of our state capital. Beautiful images.

I've attached a photo I recently took using my iphone with a tiny bit of editing in LR4. I'm pleased with it and look forward to printing this off (waiting for ink) to hang in our office. As a hospice chaplain, I'm beginning to use my iphone to record the images of the hands of our hospice patience.

Ok, everyone get out your cameras and lenses to get your pictures of moon. Show time for Eastern part of the United States, will be Sunday's night until Monday's morning. Moon will come closest approach will be at 6:23AM EST, Monday's morning. News is saying all of North America will be able to see it, if you have clear sky in your area that night. Happy Hunting. Weatherman in these parts is calling for clouds and rain. I'm hoping that comes in later in the day and that I can at least get a shot of the setting moon on Monday. Good luck with all the others, look forward to seeing some great shots!

If I have the times right, I should be able to shoot the moonset Monday morning, I think around 5:35 a.m. I'll come home from work and hope to catch the moonrise as well. Just hoping for weather cooperation.

My concern is how it will work if I print it. Will the distortion show and I speck it will.

I like it too. I'd suggest you print one out...couldn't hurt, and as far as will the distortion show, you might be the only one that notices. Sometimes we're our own worst critic and that keeps others from enjoying our work...and sometimes it keeps us from enjoying our own work. I'd day go for it!

Thanks for looking and commenting! I don't remember the last time the leaves took so long to change and fall. Hope you have a great fall of the year!

Great image, morva and also should be beautiful on the Colonial Parkway before long,

Thanks for commenting Swamp! I hope you get some beautiful color down there! I'm afraid that either we're gonna have about an hour to enjoy the beautiful colors on the trees, or we're gonna wake up one morning and they're all on the ground...and still green!

Great color in that one leaf!

That is about the most we get here at the beach in SC.

Thanks for looking and commenting Elliern. We usually get beautiful color here, and up in the mountains, but this has sure been a strange fall as far as leaves go.
