Welcome to UHH. My first camera was a plastic P&S as well. Kodak Holiday Brownie. Still have it 68 years later.

Actually if the metadata attached to your photo is important to you the correct time on the camera is important. Otherwise, not so much. I like having the time stamp on my images, particularly on my landscape photos such as sunsets. On the lighter side, it is a wonderful reminder of where I was at a particular point in time.

My first dslr had an automatic feature to update the clock for DST, then the government changed the dates we do it

Looking Glass Falls. The falls is located right off of US 276 near Brevard NC. You can also access the Blue Ridge Parkway from 276 also known as the Pisgah Highway.
