I have had an issue where after deleting images on the card while inside the camera and taking more photos. Many photos were missing. I used a recover tool that came with my card and recovered the photos. I never had any more issues with that card, in fact I still use the card.
I make sure I have adequate number of cards for the trip and do not delete within the camera.
Maybe I was just unlucky but it scared me enough not to do it.

Finally decided to buy a new D750 from B&H, ordered on Thursday evening, was shipped in two packages was supposed to be delivered Monday, it wasn't . Tracking says one package containing the spare battery was delivered, it WASN'T. (at least not to me) Tracking also says the other package was refused. It wasn't by me. Furthermore, tracking says it was refused in Pittsburgh, my address is NOT Pittsburgh
I called B&H and they say they can do nothing until it gets back to them, IF it gets back to them. I cannot find a number for FedEx
B&H also says they will refund my card when the camera gets back to them, but what about the package they say is delivered, I know of no way I can prove I did not receive it.
I also reviewed my order on B&H,s web site and the address IS correct

I don't know what has happened to FEDEX as they used to be very dependable. But now, it doesn't matter what or where you buy...packages are misdelivered but yet say they were delivered to your home...fortunately we have a network neighborhood site and find packages that way when people post they received a package that was not thiers. UPS takes a photo of the front door where they left it or at least they do here. B&H should hold any carriers they use up to a standard IMO or use a different carrier...of course they will pass on any increase which I guess if you get your package might be worth it.

So I have no shoot-able daylight now - weeks on end of rain, snow, howling wind plus 4 hours of sun above the horizon!!) so I plan to set up & shoot a whole range of small things in many different ways, indoors. But, we are house sitting a dark Alaskan cabin so I can't change the (dismal) interior lighting and cannot go buy 110v lights or bulky photographic equipment as we will only be in the cabin until April then it's back to sea to keep sailing around the Alaskan coast to BC.

I need a USB re-chargeable portable light so I can use it when we get back onto the boat & charge it off my PC (which hooks to the boat's 12v system). It needs to be off-tripod, preferably variable intensity, and, sorry to say it, reasonably priced!! Thanks for any thoughts!

We are visiting Torres Del Paine area at the end of March 2019. Any suggestions for short hikes (1 to 4 miles) in the park? And any special views we might want to see. We will have a car.
If you have visited during this period, how is the weather.

Thanks

For my part, I find these posts very interesting so thanks for the links. I enjoyed reading about the history of photography. Whether one calls it manipulation or art we are fortunate to be able to bring out our own vision of what is around us. Or just capture what we personally see.

and lucky us we have an undo button!

Rather than purchase a Gimbal head, I'm considering buying a Wimberly Arca Sidekick Ball to Gimbal head adapter. Induro also offers a Gimbal head adapter which is about $50.00 cheaper than the Wimberly. I have a RRS BH-55 ball head that I would use with either adapter. Does anyone have experience using either one of these adapters? My guess is that they have some limitations compared the a dedicated Gimbal head. However, I like the idea of not having to swap out heads plus, the ability to carry the adapter in my tripod case. I do mostly landscape photography, but would like to have something to use for my 200-500mm for wildlife photography.

I have the sidekick...and the bh55 ballhead...works well but I don't think it is as fluid as a I thought it might be...the side mount is a bit cumbersome until you get used to it...the idea of not swapping heads is why I went this route but might look at a full gimbal...and save this for traveling.

I like the sling straps and use a black rapid...I added the rrs clamp to the strap to make it easier to detach the strap and mount on the l bracket..that adds another point of failure so I double check it all often...have not had a failure..I don't like to leave the strap on while taking a photo or in portrait mode. Was wondering about the peak design as I saw that in one of the answers...do those little attachment loops flap around in the wind?
