I think my camera is still on DST.

Mine might be also, usually don't bother with the time, just the date.

I use date/time to sort for filenames....that way all files are stored in chrono order...makes it slightly easier to find.. Some i later copy and rename by subject or whatever...

Daylight Saving Time provides and extra hour of daylight in the evening compared to Standard Time, while Standard time provides an extra hour of daylight in the morning compared DST. I think most people would like that extra evening hour, at least that's the case in Florida.

I'm an amateur astronomer I want it dark as early as possible. Too bad it gets dark early in the winter and not the summer.

If you set the time once and never change it for travel or DST, then your photos will still be recorded in chronological order. I'm not arguing for that. I'm just lazy with this stuff. As I said, my camera has been on UK time for a few years, and I'm in the US. Well, the "clocks" in these things do drift over time, so I don't know where the camera is now.

The clock in most digital devices,
including my cameras, offers you
a choice of DST Off/On.

.

Really who cares I sure don’t. Just take the picture the date may be more important.

Really? Your Nikon camera knows not just which day each year but what nation and what state/province/territory it, not you, is actually in??

Shazam! Maybe I should get rid of all four Sony cameras I own? Nah. Sorry, not to be nasty, but respectfully, I don’t believe your claim.

You are mistaken. My Nikon D810 has a menu item which allows me to set automatic daylight savings time. I use it.

It's the other way around - they want to stay on daylight saving time!

Seriously? I do want to do that-- it would work out just fine. There was nothing wrong with it when the whole country tried it back in the 70s. Maybe the rest of the Several States should consider it, so we'll all be on the same page.

If I recall correctly, the change to only daylight savings time was tried in the 1970's. People complained because children had to walk to school or the bus stop in the dark.

A lot depends on where you are in your time zone. Like Maine is far to the east, i.e. right at the beginning, of the Eastern TimeZone so it's always "later,"while Indiana, on the western edge, is actually almost an hour behind. If they go on Daylight Time (to match Cincinnati) they're an hour ahead of Chicago, which can be awkward.

I agree, it's awkward at best. I believe the time changes between a specific time be it standard time or Daylight Saving Time is also awkward at best. Pick what ever is best for your STATE, and go with it.
