No way. A freeloader is that group that has spent a generation on welfare and every other entitlement program. Their children will follow in their footsteps. There is no level of expectation that will ever end. Then there are 11,000,000 plus illegal aliens. These groups are the freeloaders. As you say "bums"

You have described a certain set of freeloaders, bums & moochers. Sales taxes pay for certain things. If you won’t pay your legally-required obligations you also fit into that group of freeloaders, bums & moochers.

Typical of those that have no clue about actual economic facts. They are spoon fed propaghanda and they swallow it whole.

I live in California. Visited B&H today in NYC. Was told that as of April 15, B&H will be collecting California sales tax. Didn't ask about other states.

Really? I thought they started collecting state sales tax on Jan 1!

You got some of this wrong. Most illegal aliens don’t get free services. Most work their butts off and a large majority pay taxes. They also pay sales tax if their state has it.

If I understand it correctly people in states with sales tax have always been required to pay tax on anything they buy at home and in other states. However, since no one outside of the home state collected other states sales tax for them it was up to the people to declare the purchases and pay the tax. In California there is a formula you can use to estimate your sales tax which is what I use. Many simply ignore the sales tax issue and since no one has collected it the state is out the tax it is owed.

Let's not mix up withholding tax as opposed to the amount of tax you owe and pay--they are two different things although the media did a really poor job of reporting it as to income tax.

I think Taxachusetts also now pays sales tax (6.25%)

All states that have sales/use taxes charge them even if you buy mail order or online. If you don’t report the purchases on your tax return it’s your problem, not the seller’s. The Wayfair decision just says that states may mandate that online retailers collect it for them.

Of course they all will, and I don’t blame them.

That's been going nationwide for a few months. The politicians don't have enough money to waste.

This year I received notification from at least three NYC-based companies telling me what the sent me through 2018, and telling me that they did not collect State sales taxes.
I assume they are suggesting that I should pay 5% of the purchase price to the State.
I'm consulting our accountant.

Your accountant will likely say that you’ve always been responsible for this, but that few people ever reported it.

And California with it's "free money for everybody" policies is going to be after every penny, everywhere. Some days, I am ashamed to admit being a Native Californian.

Internet sales you did not pay PA sales(&use) tax is on the PA tax returns. They have a nice way of handling it.
Tax Return: Do you have records of what you purchased on-line?
Me: No.
Tax Return: Well according to the tax tables we use you can send in $30 and we'll call it even.
(translated as - we probably won't audit you.)
Me: Sure

Speaking for myself I don't think it is such a bad thing. I shop B&H sometimes because they have a greater selection then my local store, not because they are cheaper. I shop locally whenever possible. If we don't support our local stores (for me it's Action Camera in Roseville CA) they won't be there in the future.

Very true ! And in California, the lawmakers spend tax money on whatever they want. Gas taxes are supposed to go directly to infrastructure, but they don’t.
