I was a Shutterbug subscriber and the same thing happened to me. I am now renewing with Outdoor Photographer as not as good, for me, as Shutterbug. Too bad that we are losing these magazine in print.

Yes, I agree the print magazine version of Shutterbug was good. I didn't know, but Shutterbug still exist as a website only subscription. I'm considering that one too. But later on.

As with many of you, I have subscribed to Shutterbug, Popular Photography and Outdoor Photography. I am not renewing Outdoor Photography because it seems the handwriting is definitely on the wall. Outdoor Photography is getting thinner and thinner and, in my estimation, is only dragging its feet on folding as well. I'm sorry to see them all go but, as Jerry says, it's pretty much all online now

Popular Photography Magazine went under not too long ago. I then decided to Subscribe to a long subscription to Shutterbug Magazine. They went under too. However, I had to contact them, and ask why I was no longer getting my magazines. I was told they went under too, but the remaining issues would be replaced with Outdoor Photographer Magazine. It was done. My subscription has expired, and I received a renewal notice for a 12 month extension for only $14.97. That's an offer I can't refuse. The magazine has a lot of ads, which I don't mind, and some interesting articles. The magazine is not a thick one, as most magazines are not today. This renewal offer, may be offered to those who did not have a previous subscription. If interested.

I subscribe to Outdoor Photography magazine, published in the UK. It's big and glossy and beautiful with great articles and about half the ads of anything I have seen in the US. It's not cheap but well worth it.

I had an online subscription to Outdoor Photography for some time but recently unsubscribed due to the overwhelming e-mails I received from them attempting to sell everything under the sun. There simply is an abundance of free educational material available online to more than offset an online magazine subscription.

I think some confusion has crept in here.

Outdoor Photographer is a US based magazine, 8.5 x 10.5 in print, and about $12 per year for a subscription.

Outdoor Photography is a UK magazine, slightly larger format (9 x 12), and about $120 for a print subscription in the US (from Amazon) (12.99 per copy newsstand price at Barnes & Noble).

I noticed that, barely, when you mentioned the link to me in an earlier thread. There's an Outdoor Photographer, and an Outdoor Photography magazine. I got it. British photography magazines, appear to be highly respected.

I have been subscribing to the digital (Kindle) version of Outdoor Photographer for less than $9 a year (about $8.50). The article are interesting/photos good and the price is right.

Thanks everyone for your contributions to this Post Topic. I didn't expect so many, giving other alternative information on magazines. Some with discounts less than my subscription offer to Outdoor Photographer Magazine. And, website links to many freebies. I will give attention to all of them.

I also subscribed to Pop Photo and Shutterbug; and had remaining issues transferred to Outdoor Photog which I also subscribed to. I won't be renewing Outdoor Photog. I expect it to go under by the end of 2019. Would like to subscribe to N-Photo; but it's just too expensive. There are several first-rate photo sites on the web that are basically free. I miss the hard-copy photo mags of old. They were thick and the content was not only usable, but also enjoyable. With current photog mags, I feel like I'm paying for ads and the articles are just added as an after-thought. Just my 2 cents.

I never heard of that magazine. But, I've heard of Photo Plus/Canon, and N-Photo/Nikon. Which are pricey. The subscriptions are priced in British Pounds. I've never read a British photography magazine, or website. I'll read the link you posted. One that would interest me, would be the N-Photo/Nikon, since I'm a Nikon DSLR owner. But, that British magazine is a little pricey for me.

While Photo Plus/Canon is pricey I have been subscribing to it for quite a few years. I’ve been thinking of switching to ther digital subscription, but I still like to have a physical magazine that doesn’t require me to pick up a tablet with me when I want to read an article.

I'm quoting one uhh member who recommended buying a pricey camera. " Go ahead and buy it, it only hurts once." Perhaps, this could include pricey magazines? My elder neighbor, still gets the morning newspaper delivered to his front door. He says his fingers love to flip the pages. He could get the digital subscription. Prefers not to.

I agree with your neighbor, I like to read the newspaper while eating breakfast and if I spill coffee on the newspaper, no problem, but if I spilled coffee on my laptop or iPad, big problem.

I get the online newspaper, now I have to search for stuff to cover a work surface with if I am doing something that could get sloppy, like refilling ink cartridges* or cleaning and lubing something.

*Murphy's cartridge filling service!

I bought a ream of unprinted newsprint at the local U-haul dealer for that very purpose! Will probably outlast me, but at least it doesn't get ink residue all over the place!
