D7200, in answer to your specific question. All of the reasons I would have enumerated have already been said.
Seems like the votes are in! D7200. Added capabilities but also greater access to more Nikon lenses.

Why buy a DSLR if you don't use the reflex viewfinder but use the LCD instead? In that case a mirrorless is better. So if you don't use the LCD for composing then the ability to tilt the screen isn't important. When using for reviewing, menu settings etc.. tilting screen isn't important as you can tilt the whole camera. Only when composing with the screen then it's an advantage.
Thanks for the response.
I don't see why mirrorless or dslr makes a difference as far as viewing.
Even though I use the viewfinder 90% of the time, the flip screen still come in handy on a dslr when taking low or high shots. It was a blessing shooting the lunar eclipse which was just about strait up.
I have one mirrorless camera and still use the viewfinder 90% of the time.

Trying to chose between a Nikon D5600 & D7200 - the 7200 has a $300 discount any help ?
The only advantages the D5600 offers are the ability to use the oldest NIKKOR lenses and the articulating LCD. Unless you need these features for a lot of your shooting, the D7200 is a much better camera. [updated comment: although the D5600 can use the pre-AI lenses, manual focus is difficult at best with the little pentamirror viewfinder.]
The Nikon D5500 and D7200.are discontinued now. And are selling at discount prices. You can get a refurbished D7200 from B&H for $629. The D7200 has dual SD slots, and an internal focus motor. And may have a better buffer than the D5600. The D5500 was tested against the D7100, and was virtually equal in resolution. Buy the D7200.
I think everyone agrees on the 7200 unless you can manage the D500 somehow.

I would say the D7200. It's easier to use. The D5600 has the flip screen but since you want a DSLR and not mirrorless the flip screen isn't important.
I would strongly disagree with this. I have a Canon 80D with the fully articulating screen and I wouldn't want to get another camera without it, not even one that just tilts. It's great for macro and anytime you're in a awkward position. I've used it taking photos of frogs with the camera an inch about the surface of a pond. Having a fixed screen in situations like that is useless. I'm not a vlogger and don't use the video function hardly ever.

You will get much more bang for your buck from the D7200 for still photography:
100% viewfinder
Real pentaprism
Built in AF motor - so you can use the many wonderful screw drive AF lenses
Better construction, sealing.
++ other benefits.
About the only feature from the D5600 I like is the tilt/articulated screen since I like to shoot low, but that is not on the 7200 - the 7500 and 500 have a tilt screens. If you like to shoot a lot of video, particularly "selfies" and YT videos of you (I don't), then the 5600 might actually be an advantage, otherwise go with the 7200 for mostly still photography.
I had two d7100s that served well.
The 5600 is for beginners you will soon tire of it take the7200.
Way better camera.
Go with the D7200. I have one, and it is great.

To each his own. It's only my opinion. The decision ultimately depends on the OP. The reason for the articulating screen means nothing to me because I never use live view nor shoot video. For other purposes there is no difference. The main thing I like about the D7200 as compared to the D5600 because it has 2 command dial (main and sub). It makes for much easier to shoot in manual mode. The D7200 also can AF with screw driver lenses and meter with AI/AI-s lenses but these features while a plus is not that important to me.
bought on over a year ago and love it! You will get a much better camera with the 7200!
