As an owner, I agree the D7200 is the better choice.

Could you explain your thought behind this?

The D5600 has the flip screen but since you want a DSLR and not mirrorless the flip screen isn't important.

Why buy a DSLR if you don't use the reflex viewfinder but use the LCD instead? In that case a mirrorless is better. So if you don't use the LCD for composing then the ability to tilt the screen isn't important. When using for reviewing, menu settings etc.. tilting screen isn't important as you can tilt the whole camera. Only when composing with the screen then it's an advantage.

Absolutely D7200 More lens options.
There are many older lens that will not work on the 5600. Get a 80 to 200 f2.8

Interesting that no one has asked the OP what kind of photography he wants to engage in, plans for future gear, etc..... or did I miss something?

D7200 is a great all around camera you will enjoy for years.

I'm selling a D7200 w/Nikon grip. Shutter count is at 2,011. PM me if interested.

Don't dismiss the value of the articulated screen for old people who can't do so well with low-level shots! (I speak from experience!)

I made that jump last summer. My only regret is I sorely miss the flexible LCD screen. It made taking low level shots with my WA a lot easier, but you will be able to AF with more lenses and pick up additional features in the camera's menu.

I bought the D5600 specifically to get the flip screen. It allows for a wider variety of shots, including over head( I hold it up on a monopod and use the timer), down low ( I’m unable to get down on the ground) and around corners. I’m very happy with it

The D7200 was my first serious dslr after having been out of photography since the film days. One of the reasons I got it was because of its across the board capability. Name something it won’t do. I’ve used it for landscapes, astrophotography (even mounted it on my telescope), portraits, wildlife, and birding, city shots, and still use it for events. Yes, there are better cameras for specific purposes and I have moved to the D500 for wildlife and birding for the improved AF performance, but you will pay a lot more for the D500 right now and the D7200 sensor has a higher rating than the D500 sensor at DxOMark.com. It’s hard to beat the performance for the price. If you have a big budget - go mirrorless, probably Sony. If you are looking for a great value, it’s hard to beat the D7200 right now.

I do not own a D7200 but I have heard a lot about it here and in other photography forums. From what I know it is a very competent camera.
I am not familiar either with the D5600 but I know that it offers excellent image quality with its 24 Mp. and those are a lot of pixels. I bet the AF on the D7200 is a better one but if I was into portraits and landscapes, family shots and other types of photography where a fast shooting rate and a more responsive AF was not necessary the D5600 would fill the bill and the chances would be excellent the D5600 is all I needed.
It is considerably smaller and less heavy than the D7200 and for some that could make a difference. Handle both cameras and you will have a better idea of which one will fit better you photography style.

Nope. Neither. I'd save if I had to in order to get the D500. The D500 is one of the best cameras made by Nikon.

Try that with a cable release, secure the remote with tape where you hold the monopod and you can focus and shoot.

I bought the 7000 many years ago and loved every minute using it 2 years ago Nikon had a refurb sale and I bought the 7200. It allows you to use many more lens than the 5600 IMO it is a big step up

Actually you can use all the lenses that you can use on the D7200 on the D5600. It won't AF or meter with some of them but doesn't keep you from using it.
