Would you mind sharing your settings used to get moon shot with SX 40 or SX30? Thanks
I shot this at F8, 1/50 sec, ISO 200. Handheld, leaning across the top of my car for stability.
WOW - that's great! I tried some moon shots when I first got my SX30 that I didn't like at all. Going to have to have another go at it.
One of them would be me.

If you own an SX 40, just log in and be counted. If you want, add no more than two sentences about how you like it. Let's see how many of there are of us by next week.

Just a few shots from today - wind was terrible so had job keeping zoom steady as camera was handheld.
Reconise every scene. Nice to know that it's not only me that lives in Southport and is a member on this site. Very nice shots, perhaps one day I will be able to take pics as good as those.

Picked up my sx40 hs yesterday, in Saigon. $360 including 1 year Canon warranty. Love it already but hate that no useful manual is included. The getting started guide is crap.
I hope to find a way to print a useful manual from the cd but not holding my breath. I have more hope for an SX 40 hs user group on the hog.
First impression of the camera, it is amazing. Everything that people say it is.
I'm a 6 month user of the SX40 and must say that I've really enjoyed taking pic's with this camera. It's a very versitle, lightweight camera. I find it to be the perfect one to have for the person who wants decent pictures without having to lug a ton of equipment around. I will post some pic's when I get back home and have access to my computer. BTW, truely enjoy this site, lots of knowledgeable people.
My husband and I both have a Sx40 and love it. I was disappointed that the manual wasn't included with the camera. I downloaded the cd that came with the camera and printed the manual. I so glad we did because there's so much to take in and learn about the Sx40. Who can run to the computer and read a manual when your out and about taking great pics. Enjoy your camera.

The manual on the CD is 220 pages! I am going to have it printed and bound. I also purchased the ShortCourses.com Guide for the SX40 and it is GREAT also, 161 pages!!

My suggestion, for what it's worth, is to download the PDF manual onto your Blackberry Playbook (or equivalent), where it can be accessed while you're offline. 8-)
Here's a shot from our August holiday...straight from the camera.

THE SX40HS WANTS FOR NOTHING AS A DO NEARLY EVERYTHING CAMERA.
Downloaded manual onto my IPad, great idea, I can have it with me on location, to get used to the camera.
Dear SX40 fans. Today is Aug 23. Since the original posting on Aug 19 there have been almost 3,000 hits on this thread. I think there are a lot of us out there. Thanks for all your posts. DJM
Love your butterflies. Are these from your yard? I have had some trouble catching on to the macro on this camera. Would appreciate any info that would help. Do you use only optical zoom? Would like to know what mode(s) and settings used if you don't mind, like my colors settings (vivid, saturation, etc) and how you focus closely. I used the SX 3 is before and it was easy. This is a bit harder to get the feel for. Not meaning to pry for info you would rather not share, and would understand if you would rather not. Thanks.
