Along with the gift cards, etc., a year's subscription for home delivery of a couple of photo magazines? That way, he will remember your gesture every month!

A very good friend of mine did something very nice for our family and I would like to reciepicate with a gift in the $100-125 range. Trouble is, he is a D810 shooter and a long time photographer with just about everything he needs. Maybe some new gadget or something classic?
Any ideas greatly appreciated, thanks.
Chris

How about a nice bottle of wine. Change it up.

How about a digital frame to display all the photos? I would think you could get an 8 x 10 frame in that price range.

Under your budget but, how about a Zeeion Anti-static blower? The air that comes out of the blower is filtered so your friend won’t be blowing stuff into the camera, plus the intake is filtered so that the blower isn’t inhaling bad stuff.

Getting a filtered blower is the way to go. I got a similar filtered blower made by Koh Global. Also, blowers that have a rubber bulb can shed fine particles and build up a static charge. The silicon or PVC bulbs on the better filtered blowers won't do that.

How about a portable back-up Drive? Everyone can always use one.

For a friend who already has everything he needs, why not choose something other than camera equipment?

I recommend getting him the book “Photography: The Definitive Visual History,” by Tom Ang. He’s a world renowned photographer who has written over 30 books. It traces the history of Photography over the past 200 years. It’s a beautiful large hardcover book, for the coffee table or his library. I bought it last year and when a couple of my friends come over they cannot put it down.

I paid $50 for it ... but you can now get it on Amazon for $29.29. Check it out. And check out Tom Ang.

Get him a good quality photography book from Amazon with the subject matter of his favorite photographic subject (i.e, landscape, wildlife, portrait etc.).

If he travels, a GPS logger (NOT a tracker) from Amazon. Pluto trigger is kinda fun. Small leather or canvas bags for storing things in the kit. A ring light.

Yes, a gift card is always an option. I think it would be a little more special if I could find something cool and functional.

Just because he's a photographer doesn't mean you MUST give a photographic gift. There are other aspects of his life outside photography. Consider a gift card like VISA which can be used anywhere and let him decide what he wants to use it on.

Gift card because buying something for a photographer is like buying clothes for your hottie girlfriend. You will never get it right. Just get a gift card.

I hate gift certificates. Its like the person gave no thought into getting a gift.

Get him something creative. Like a high quality, expensive frame, or 2 matching frames. He will love to have them to put in some of his work that he loves best.

Without knowing the kind of photography he does, and what equipment he
has already, it's hard to say. And gift cards are so impersonal.

There are some some beautiful hardcover collections of photographs
by prominent living photographers, but you'd have to know his area of
interest and if he had the book already.

One that I know he doesn;t have (because it's coming out on Jan 1. 2019)
is Don McCullin's new collection, The Landscape. But it's all
B&W landscapes and for, say, a portraitist or colorist that's the height
of boredom.

Most of the photographers I know appreciate a good single malt Scotch.
Glenmorangie Original (at about $50/bottle) is a safe bet because its
reliable and unobjectionable. For bourbon drinkers, Makers Mark is a
safe bet for the same reasons and moderately priced..

Or you could take him out to dinner someplace nice.
