A very good friend of mine did something very nice for our family and I would like to reciepicate with a gift in the $100-125 range. Trouble is, he is a D810 shooter and a long time photographer with just about everything he needs. Maybe some new gadget or something classic?
Any ideas greatly appreciated, thanks.

That was going to be my suggestion also - whichever one he shops at the most. If there is a local brick and mortar shop he uses, then a gift card/voucher for that shop.

Chris981,

While gift certificates are very useful, and usually much appreciated, they may not necessarily impart the 'gift' idea you may be looking for. With a budget of $100 to $125 you can forget about lenses and flash attachments and even many good quality filters, tripods, and doodads.

Since you know the camera model "Nikon D810" you can get an OEM battery or two for it. Also, you could provide super high quality SD chips, as in large capacity and super high speed. If your friend has a flash attachment, they typically require four AA batteries. You could get a set of lithium-ion rechargeable AA batteries and a charger.

Just some thoughts, but you will do what is best for you and your friend.

Yes, a gift card is always an option. I think it would be a little more special if I could find something cool and functional.

A gift certificate to a local camera store, if you have one, would be my suggestion. That way he/she could get what they really need. Maybe they want to buy a camera bag which could contribute to the purchase, although it's not enough to purchase your suggested items it could contribute greatly to something they want to buy etc. Can't go wrong.

Get him a gift certificate from B&H. They are a premier source for photographers. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/find/eGiftCard.jsp?origSearch=gift+cards

Chris981, br br While gift certificates are very ... (show quote)

When I am in doubt, I tend to send cash. This advice might be even better. Some people like to open a box and enjoy the surprise, others not so much.

If you can get hold of one of his favorite photos maybe you could get it framed.

That price range would get some pretty good, fast memory cards. I don't know what the D810 takes, that's always a good idea. Extra batteries too.

Right! It's hard to go wrong with a gift certificate.

OK if you were buying for me I would love to get a gift card to a custom framing shop. I have all the equipment I need and love to have my work professionally mounted and framed.

Visa gift card for$100.00.
Then he can choose what to get. Perhaps a hammer, drill, CPL, new windshield wipers etc.

Just a few ideas.
Grey card (WhiBal cards are individually inspected with a precision spectrophotometer to certify that they meets or exceed stringent specifications.
Datacolor SpyderLensCal Autofocus Calibration Aid
Kenko LCD screen protectors (I bought them for my D500 as Nikon doesn't use the snap-on screen protectors anymore)

Under your budget but, how about a Zeeion Anti-static blower? The air that comes out of the blower is filtered so your friend won’t be blowing stuff into the camera, plus the intake is filtered so that the blower isn’t inhaling bad stuff.
