Good Morning, I realize this is a very subjective question but asking it anyway.
I leave Saturday for 2 weeks in Italy (Florence, Venice, Sorrento, Capri, and Rome). I have (5) 64gb SD cards and (2) 32gb cards. I won't have any way to upload pics to a device to free up space on the cards during that time.
I shoot with a Nikon D7100 in Raw format only. Do I need to buy more SD cards? Thank you. Joy
Sounds like enough, but better safe than sorry add another one or two, sure you can get them but do you want to waste time looking for them in Europe?

Simple arithmatics; you should have enough, format and number them before you go.
One 64G can store 2600+ (24MP) raws, you have 5 of them which allows you to shoot 13K pictures, that means average of 1K per day(100/hr, 1.5/min), make sure you watch your steps and wallet, and have 2 extra batteries and 2 chargers to spare.
Thanks Everyone. I'm sure I have more than I need but I'm sure I'll take many pictures. I get back the weekend before Thanksgiving. Guess what I'm doing Thanksgiving? If I can wait that long to look at them.

Let's say 100 shots per day.
That makes 1,400 shots for the whole trip.
So let's be generous and say 2,000 shots total.
If you make the shots count and put a modicum of thought into them you most likely will not do more than that.
So what you have is plenty.
Or do the mindless spray and pray method then get about 20 extra 64 GB cards.
IMHO, taking a trip like this without some way to back up your photos is really gambling. Granted, probably nothing will happen and based on your actual shooting practices, what you have could cover your needs.
I recently returned from a trip to France, 2 1/2 weeks throughout Paris, a week in a village north of Toulouse and various side day trips. Shot Canon with CF and SD cards in camera and backed up my SD cards to a My Passport Wireless Pro hard drive and using a less expensive RavPower to download onto portable hard drives. For me, this was a photography trip with sightseeing and visiting friends thrown in. So I shot a lot of 3 bracket combos of church interiors and other low light compositions. For the weight and space of 3 portable hard drives, I had peace of mind about bringing home my files without viewing them there. Unless you can re-create anything you might lose on your trip, I suggest some form of backup strategy.

For a 2 week trip I think I would take about 800 shots.
You can fit approximately 880 24mp photos on a 64 gig card so if your going full size raw (28.5 meg for your camera) slightly less.

Why not use 2 cards in the camera and save to both cards? Instant backup. You have way more than enough storage available.

I agree and disagree. I normally take a laptop on trips anyway and download pictures on a daily basis. But I have also taken trips where I just use a handful of cards. While I have heard of people having cards fail, that is not prevented by backing up a card. If you can back up a card then the probability that it would fail after simply being stored in an SD card case until you get back is very low. The card failure would have happened before that. On the other hand I have considered wearing a belt and suspenders both for security and fashion reasons (I hate fashion
)
I also realized that I was thinking of my needs in some earlier advice. I tend to end up shooting at least one marathon and look for birds when we travel. This means I shoot bursts and might easily rack up 500-1000 shots in a day. I realized the OP is simply touring and my not get any where near that number. OP is going on a two week trip and has seven cards. Having one card for every 2-3 days of the trip might very well be plenty.

Well, I agree with you about the card failure happening at the wrong time (like there is a right time?) I have Canon equipment, so I am not familiar with the specs of the card slot or slots for that Nikon body. I view my double slot/card setup as an automatic backup and set my cameras to record raw to both cards. If a card fails, then I'll stop using that card and hope it can be saved when I get home. With a double card system, there's already an original duplicate.
In the before time, casual regard to negatives or uprocessed fim canisters would have resulted in irreplaceable loss and now with digital, I can fully ensure I never lose any important files, work or pleasure. I would rather have one too many copies than one not enough. During my last trip, backing up the day's cards took 10-15 minutes and I had overly maximized my backup, even for me. But that is alright, because I am not planning on returning anytime soon to reshoot. There's too much in the world yet to enjoy and savor.

I sell cameras and cards at walmart, have told over 100 customers if they are traveling take at least 2 cards and swap then every day so if you drop the camera in the drink or have it stolen you only lose 1/2 of your pics, I have had 5 stop back and say thanks, camera was stolen.
