Good Morning, I realize this is a very subjective question but asking it anyway.
I leave Saturday for 2 weeks in Italy (Florence, Venice, Sorrento, Capri, and Rome). I have (5) 64gb SD cards and (2) 32gb cards. I won't have any way to upload pics to a device to free up space on the cards during that time.
I shoot with a Nikon D7100 in Raw format only. Do I need to buy more SD cards? Thank you. Joy

Sounds like you’re well armed. And they sell them in Europe too.

If it were me, I'd purchase 5 more 64Gb cards. You can always use them after you return.

Oh, and bring your waders when you visit Venice.

I guess a couple more couldn't hurt and they don't take up much room, but I'd sure hate to come home and have to edit all those photos! I shoot a lot when I get out and about and generally shoot Raw & JPEG and there's simply no way that I would fill all that memory in two weeks unless I was shooting virtually all the time. Photos are important to most all of us here, but one needs to take some time to enjoy the trip as well. Either way, travel safely and have a good time!

It depends on how you shoot.
Figure out how much storage (JPEG or RAW+JPEG) for your image setting (ie. ≈30 Meg for RAW+JPEG in my camera) and divide it into your total storage capacity (384 Gb). That will tell you ABOUT how many images you can take with what you have.
Example: 384,000Meg/30Meg =≈ 12,800 images. By 14 days is about 900 images/day.

Each 32 gb will hold about 1300 raw files, each 64 about 2600 raw files. Total all that up and you can take a lot. If it were me on the trip, I'd take about 300 shots a day.

All depends I guess ….How many photos are you planning on taking....With what you have now it looks like it could be several thousand with what you have....I use the 32's and have had a little over 900 on it and it still have room....So lets say you can get 1000 on the 32 … ...that makes for 2000 with those and you have 5 64's , that's another 10,000 for roughly a total of 12,000 …. but better safe, I'd get a couple more.....Have a great trip...Tom

You can always buy an additional card or two in Italy if needed. But avoid the tourist souvenir shops where the cards will almost certainly be ridiculously overpriced. Instead, purchase where the locals may buy their memory cards.

Did you read that Venice is under water, the biggest flood they have had in many years. You may want check this out. The number of cards you take depends on how you shoot or expect to shoot. Are you careful and judicious in your approach or do you click away? You can check the images to delete obviously poor images and this will free up space. I always try to take more cards and batteries and whatever than I think I'll need. Yes, a very subjective question.

Quick answer: Damned if I know. I just got back from a 2 week cruise down the Danube. Shot over 500 images. How many images can/do you typically fit on a 64gb card? Do you change cards frequently on such a trip? How frequently? Can one card go 3 days for you? It sure sounds like you should be fine with what you have. IMHO.

That would give him 10, 64 GB cards. That's a lot.

I think only you can really determine your shooting pattern but I wonder when I read posts like this why people don't purchase larger memory cards. I have a D7100 and use 128 MB cards and don't worry about needing to change cards so often. You don't have to fill the card but the memory is there if needed.

My cameras will not utilize LARGE memory cards. The cameras are over eight years old.
Plus, if the card decides to go south, I would loose more images on a larger card. I'd rather distribute them over multiple cards. But that's just me.

Maybe just me but I consider the damage or loss of cards more likely when carried around than having a card go south on you. Those cards are better quality that given credit for. But to each their own pattern.

I don't use card that holds significantly more images than one battery can take. Whenever I have to change or charge the battery I would change the card. There would not be any interruption due to having to change cards.
