Hi MadClown, The first images were taken at the Dulini private game reserve just south of Kruger Park. The assortment of animals was truly amazing. The later photos were taken at Tswalu which is a protected area owned by the Oppenheimer Foundation. They protect the animals and study them. The Foundation encourages young college students to come there and study the animals. They even have Anti Poaching rangers who patrol the area.

My wife and I are just back from 16 days in South Africa. We went on 12 animal safaris during this time. South Africa is truly one gigantic photo opportunity. I hope I don't offend anyone by saying that I took my Nikon B700 Point and Click instead of a larger camera and bigger lenses. I knew I would in some cases be shooting fast, plus it's smaller and easier to carry. Here are a few of my shots.

Very nice Paul. I remember driving around a corner and making an exciting discovery like one of these. I'd love to go back.

Ah, the Sabi Sands Park. It is a wonderful place.
I am also fond of the Black Rhino Reserve at Pilanesberg.

Hi Madclown, while at Tswalu, we came across six Black Rhinos. Our guide said that there are only 2000 left on earth and she had never seen six at one time.

Nicely done! My husband & I were there for 7 weeks this year & I lugged my heavy gear. Hubby had a P&S and a friend traveling with us purchased the Sony RX10 iv. Our friend got excellent shots as did both my husband and myself. However, I was the only one of our bunch to have aching shoulders, back, and arms. Had I known then what I know now, I would have gotten the Sony to take as my main camera for the Africa leg of our trip.

The best camera for the job is the one you got. These are really fine photos. You don't need a D850 to grab great images. I'm of the opinion: If you have to twiddle with settings and your camera can do it, you are wasting your life. Let the camera be your perfectionist and concentrate on composition. Some of my best pics were with a 110 instamatic. Not wall sized prints but pretty good images. Nothing to be ashamed of, these are fantastic images and I wish I had so much to show.
