Give me all the information, Model along with Serial No. and I will talk to a Panasonic Rep!

This is a known issue with this particular zoom. You can talk to management directly at Panasonic in Hapan, the answer is going to be the same.

If I were the OP I would be more careful with my equipment but no I wouldn't buy the Square Trade warranty.

Yes, it was my dear spouse who knocked into it (but yeah, you can always be more careful.) Curious though, why not the Square Trade warranty? Thank you.

Not only the square trade but any after market or extended warranty. I only want the original manufacturer warranty. If I don't drop the camera the chance of the camera malfunction after 1 year warranty is very small. There is a significantly greater chance of the camera malfunction when it's new than when it's a year old. The chance increases after 5 years or so but if you buy warranty that extended past that it would be way too expensive.

Most credit card companies do not cover accident losses.
Amex gold card covers accidental loss for (I believe) 90 days from purchase.

I just had a Panasonic FZ300 repaired under warranty and the Panasonic repair center is in Texas. Never could get the online form to work, but calling them did. Try

The original manufacturer's warranty covers defects of materiel or workmanship. There are "extended warranty" plans that do nothing except extend the expiration date of the original manufacturer's warranty. A good aftermarket plan like a Squaretrade "drop and spill" plan covers accidents and things like gravity and water. The OP says the camera & lens dropped onto the floor. The manufacturer's warranty won't cover any of that.

If you're an amateur, get a personal property policy from your insurer for your camera gear and accessories. Mine is with State Farm. Can even cover computers and printers. Covers repair or replace, no deductible, no depreciation. Very reasonable cost.

I have a State Farm floater on my photography equipment. A few months ago they changed to allow for depreciation, so you will not get back what you paid for your equipment.

True, any insurance policy unless it specifically says 'total Replacement' will most always account for depreciation....not to mention the premiums will be slightly higher. Either way still better than nothing the OP is probably going to get

I have USAA, a listed item is covered for replacement, no depreciation involved.

I purchased a Panasonic Leica 100-400 mm lens and a Lumix GX8. When purchasing, I made the mistake of buying the Square Trade insurance wrongly thinking it was for both. But, it was apparently for the camera only. The camera, with the lens attached and in the camera bag, got knocked to a floor, and now both the camera and lens and lens are broken. Square Trade is handling the repair of my camera. But I don't know exactly what to do about this very expensive lens. I took it in to a camera repair shop in Asheville, NC, who said that the lens mount as well as some electrical connections are broke, but they cannot fix the lens mount because they cannot get a part for it. They said the lens looked fine. The lens was purchased (B & H) 4/18. Naturally, the warranty doesn't cover an accidental drop. I am sick about this. Any good advice? :( Thank you, friends!

Call Panasonic at the number I listed below. Explain what happened and ask what your options are. At least you'll get a straight answer.
