Sounds like an awful lot of unhappiness gleaned from only a few months on the forum. Best of luck in your endeavors here.

Two things that even a high-school psych student knows (or should know):

The "unhappiness" was imprinted long before an individual registers on this forum.

The denial of evident "unhappiness" has been that individual's escape mechanism for a very long time.

(Same goes for "anger", and we seldom ever see that on this forum)

LOL, you really are something, I guess that one's political affiliation is all you need to show how small you can be. We are in the photography forum so I will not further respond in kind. If your photography is better than mine, hey, then I am happy for you, but you sure have not shown it here on this site.

I am not a fan of B&W.
It's moody, check out the contrast, it sets the tone. It's so artistic.
It's B.S.
I see in color.
Everyone even me, gets lucky and can pull off a b&w shot every now and then.
There are not that many photographers, who can successfully make a living shooting only B&W.
They are not on this site.
I got banned from the street section for making comments about Voss's and other people's street photos.
To me, if you have to explain the shot it becomes a snapshot. A image should stand on it's own. The only information Ansel gave was, where the shot took place. Anything more is a postcard.
In regards to the street section
I guess out of focus images that are full of black blobs, just do not fit into my idea of a good photograph
I have not seen one shot I would hang on my wall.
There seems to be a serious lack definition between the blacks.
On Voss's post today, the guy is a blob from the waist down.
Look for yourself.
I tried to post that observation. That's when I found out I had been banned.
The guy [Alpflo?] who runs the site, apparently has issues with anyone who dares cross him.
I had commented on a post awhile back.
He told me, I didn't understand street photography.
I corrected him, and told him I did indeed understand the concept.
He then asked why I wasn't shooting street
I explained, I live in the country. There are days that go by when the only people I see are my family.
That the area I live in, does not have a main street. The only place around here, where there are people, is at the grocery store. I explained that taking shots of little old ladies pushing a shopping cart didn't spin my wheels. I guess he didn't care for that response.
I also wrote I didn't care about the rules of street photography that were from the 1950's.
Times change, we have gone away from film. Back before we had DSLR's, color was a lot more expensive. The film cost more, the chemicals and enlarger were big bucks. Any artist struggling or not, will try to save money. Drum roll please... That is why back in the good old bad days they shot in b&w.
I tried without success, to explain rules were made to be broken.
I told him more and more street photographers are shooting in color.
How else does the art of photography expand.
Art is not static. Look to see the difference between Rembrandt and Picasso.
Change is one of the most, critically important aspects of art.
The sad part is that so many are afraid of change.
It seems Alpo is one of them
As long as this is my last post before I am tossed.
Here is some free advice
You have to be on the net to get here.
Use it.
Stop asking what gear to buy
Google the lens, the camera you want to buy.
READ THE REVIEWS.
Then you can make a intelligent decision on what to buy. Nobody and I mean nobody, can make that decision but you
Quit bragging, I do not care if you are going to Timbuctoo, If you are smart enough to plan a trip, you should be smart enough to figure out what F#^$ing camera or lens to take.
Stop the bird and flower pictures. We are all proud of the shots we take. But honesty., you guys overdosed me. I don't know if I can take another picture of either of them anymore.
For all that is Holy, leave the saturation slider alone. I have seen colors in shots, that have never, ever been seen in nature. Stop it. It's seriouly annoying.
And then there is the attic. Who knew you could find Nazi's on a photograhy site? This will forever baffle me.
Well its been real and sort of fun.
Adios

There is, and they are the only two Minolta lenses that you can actually adapt to a Canon EOS body without the use of corrective glass, it requires some milling on a spacing ring that is below the lens mounting ring. They are beautiful lenses.

Here's what I like about UHH: It's a place for photographers of every skill level, every interest, and every age. Some photos are very amateurish and some are strikingly professional. There are sites for pros that I visit, but UHH has an acceptance level far above those of other sites. I have posted very poor images, and some that I think were pretty freakin' good.

Yes, there are a lot of photos here that don't appeal to me. You know what? I don't look at them. And if I do look at them, I refrain from commenting. There is a place here for critiquing and a place for displaying. I don't critique in the display area, and I only post what I believe are helpful comments in the critique area.

I don't even subscribe to the Street Photography section, although I shoot some myself. Until your post, I didn't even realize there was such a section. You see, I come to UHH for pleasure and knowledge. I don't live and breathe UHH. I drop in pretty much every day, but only spend a fraction of the day here.

There is another (non photography) forum to which I belong where two regular members got into a disagreement. This resulted in both of them leaving the board. I'm sorry to see this, as I think they both contributed a lot. It probably happens on every forum, including this one.

I just don't want to be one of those.

Again, this is not the Attic, I do not discuss politics outside of the attic on this site. However, as I recall I was responding to one of your threads, maybe you should go back and understand the posture you presented in opening that thread, if I am mistaken in regard to your being the OP then I would suggest that you go back and look at the post I was responding to. I do not just say things like that out of the blue, I do believe that you were stating that you would not be returning to the United States because of political outcomes... Maybe, just maybe you had a hand in generating the responses you received....

Think about it. How would you respond were the roles reversed? Actually I love Canada, I will never forget their that, at great risk to their diplomats, they guarded and helped the return of our hostages in the Iran crisis, I have no beef with Canada, it was your remarks I responded to.

I don't know much about street photography. I do remember teaching B&W photography and the example that I used to show the value of B&W images.
I would display an images of a woman from an african tribe that was dressed head to toe in a beautiful colorful traditional native costume. After my students viewed it for a few minutes, I covered it and asked- what was the expression on her face? Blank stares.
I then showed them a monochrome version of the image and they all agreed that her facial expression dominated the image.
Every medium has a place in imaging.

Wow, and I thought I could have grouchy days. Looking at the time you have been a member I would suggest you have not given the site a very broad evaluation. That said, it is obvious that is not the place for you and to remain would be a disservice to you and to the other UHH members. Hope you can find some like minded folks with whom you can enjoy photography.
