What shutter did you use for this correct amount of blur?

Rules are meant to broken - 2/3's photo equipment - 1/3 alcohol
I try 2/3's beer- 1/3rd equipment-- most of the time it doesn't work- but it was fun trying- I think

Now you know why some of your photos may be out of focus -
"Don't drink and shoot pictures"
If you do, you might end up with a crooked wine glass - as is seen by this photo!
Crooked wine glass
If we look at the field of vision of one eye it is about 1/3 on the nose side and 2/3 at the side. True the justification for rule of 1/3 has long been based on the "golden rule of nature", shells etc... but it may be something as simple as how we see. Shut one eye look straight forward at a spot, peripheral vision is 1/3 2/3s. Just a thought outside the accepted box.
Abby, the wine glasses have inspired me. Many artists are know by a repeated theme. A friend and professor of art Richmond Virginia painter frogs on Lilly pads,,, over and over with varriations... like the politician who wore one suite (duplicates) he was recognizable. I will try to photograph wine goblets in many poses... wish me luck.

I use the rule of fifths for focus. If you can recognize the subject after a fifth, then it must be in focus!
What a shame about the crooked glass in front of a beautiful background!
Looks like he is a victim of this administration, and had to downsize from his former location as the sign in the background indicates.

Interesting observation. I was out in the garden this morning trying to visualize how I wanted to shoot a flower and realized that closing one eye also gives me a much better concept of what the lens is going to capture!

How did that enter the inside of your quote?

For those of you who don't like the Rule of Thirds for your composition, try the Rule of 35's! ( be sure to count them ) Put your subject in any of these rectangles and your picture will be great - (not). Took this out of the foyer of a hotel - brought to mind the Rule of Thirds.
Second photo is busy sidewalk - I was trying to hand-hold my wide angle with a slower shutter speed to give the blur to the pedestrians. It's interesting that some of the feet are stationary while the upper body keeps moving and gets the blur effect.
Thanks,
I think it is because none of them are actually running from the "Roach Coach", only walking. One of your feet are stationary at all times walking.

I thought the rule of thirds was one third of your money for cameras and equipment, one third for alcohol and one third wasted on other stuff.
Now that is a rule, bring on the alcohol figure the other 2 out in the morning.
Keep the bar tender near at hand!

But you just said that "Rules are meant to broken." Now there are exceptions?
Wish she would make up her mind, first she says "no drinking and flying" then she says "no flying and drinking"
I am so confused.
I like the rule of fifth's. Fifth of vodka ie
