No he didn't.-

Quit lying.

PS According to biologists yes...it's necessary. I'll side with folks who know rather than a whiny left winger. thankyou.

A quote from this article:
Federal biologists say limited hunting is unlikely to harm the overall grizzly population in the Yellowstone area, and Wyoming wildlife officials at Wednesday’s meeting described the proposal as conservative. “The question is not whether you hunt grizzly bears or not,”

Republican Gov. Matt Mead told C-SPAN earlier this month. “The question is whether grizzly bears have grown enough in terms of population and in habitat that they can be a sustainable species. And clearly they have.”

Good information here.

I kind wonder if the Starbuck woodsmen know what they are taking about?
I can take you places close to Anchorage, AK (where several bear mauling/killing occur) Yes and this summer camping parks are closed
in a city of 300,000 people.

And you "pho" Woodsmen with come back with brown shorts......if you are lucky!

Do not walk in woods and give advice....unless you have lived it.

Where, when and what weapons were you carrying....

And I'm talking a stroll thru the Zoo.

"Hartland Township is a civil township of Livingston County in Metro Detroit"
Just another woodsman living on the frontier....
Bet there is more drug user danger than bears?

Further more, if you truly got in then out safely....
and you have learned adults and children are dying from
bear attacks.....

What makes you the authority NOT to thin the bear population?

I haven't lived my entire life in Hartland Michigan. I was born and raised in upper Michigan and if you have seen any of my posts you may have noted that I have done considerable traveling and , most likely, seen parts of the world you have only read about. So quit with the attitude .
I've been to New Zealand, Australia, China, Japan, Russia, Poland, Fiji, Most of Europe, a good deal of the USA (including Alaska and Hawaii),. Mexico, Canada, Tahiti, When I was working for Ford Motor Company I had several months conducting Automotive and truck testing in Alligator Alley and and facility just outside Everglades National Park between the hours of 11:00 pm and 5:00 am... you wouldn't believe what is out running around those areas at those hours... SO... AS I said don't assume! I've also snorkeled The Great Barrier Reef. So You Best Stay In Your Zoo!

What part of Alaska did you miss? I've also spent a good deal of time in Colorado . Florida had gators, bobcats, and all kinds of snakes. This facility did not have street lights either .. we were out there with flash lights and those on the vehicles... pretty damn dark and you could hear stuff moving around in the water and brush... i WOULDN'T SAY i WASN'T CONCERNED. i got to withing 3 or 4 feet of a pack of 4 pygmy rattlers.. and there was a 12 foot gator just outside the truck we were working out of. And I did say AUSTRALIA they have critter too.
I wasn't changeling your "extensive background" I was replying to you insinuations of my cushy life. I've been working in my yard (we're very rural) and had a mother fox and two kits running around just feet away. We have Coyotes all over, brown bear have been reported (never seen one in the area), My major concern is my fellow man and what he might do.
I'm an Aerospace engineer so I've had some close calls with test vehicles and test fixtures as well. Ever have a jet engine blow up when you're on the other side of the test cell?

Stop bragging....I'm a Professional Mechanical Engineer and 42 year Alaska Commercial Fisherman

In my 35 years with Chevron I've been in the middle of a 3,000 psi hydrogen
reactor fires....front line fire hoses to get into block valves.

Gaters ,bob cats snakes.... just outside the truck? HA!

Try a 2,000 LB brown bear just outside your shirt....

You really have not lived where the Wild Bears Roam...

Once you do that....you can call yourself dirty harry????

and when you see one coming at you..... your view of "save all the bears" will change

I don't care where you have been or how fearless you are consider this. The adult Griz is THE Apex Predator in his range, afraid of nothing including people. In no other place in the world I am aware of such a clear distinction. No I won't even entertain the argument that man is the ultimate Apex Predator. Of course he is but that has nothing to do with this discussion.

Number one: Grizzly Bears are NOT endangered within acceptable habitat. Number two: no sane person would want Griz wandering around Golden Gate Park in SF. Oh by the way they use to! Number three: In areas where Griz and people interact both people and bears die.

There would seem to be only two solutions the Griz/human interaction problem. One solution would to move human populations out of suitable Griz territory. In the case of Montana and Wyoming that would probably mean expanding the boundaries of Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. The other option would be to limit the total Griz population in those parks to a sustainable level. So, I guess the question is who do we listen to? The fanatics on both sides? Save the bears vs. kill the bears. Both sides arguments are based on emotion! How about, instead, we listen to the professional game managers who base their decisions on education and long-term experience.
