You're right about it being a personal choice. That's what makes photography fun. :D :D

I always shoot to please myself and not others unless they are paying me. I tell my students this, too.

The dark is more contrasted but heavy. The light has a bit of soft mystery - a woman's gentle touch. She wins :wink:
The colours work well to enhance each other in both shots. Your turn next time!

Both are exceptional. Why not compromise and put the lighter in the ladies room and the darker in the gents? I agree with you, the contrast gives it more life, but it is a little heavy. Can you back off the intensity of the background a bit?

Ditto - but they are both wonderful. Something about the lighter one draws me away from the flower. I would tweak the darker on just a teeny weeny bit if I had to, big as is, it is compelling. D
