The dark is more contrasted but heavy. The light has a bit of soft mystery - a woman's gentle touch. She wins
The colours work well to enhance each other in both shots. Your turn next time!

Always "the next time". Oh well....

Thanks for the kind words.

Both are exceptional. Why not compromise and put the lighter in the ladies room and the darker in the gents? I agree with you, the contrast gives it more life, but it is a little heavy. Can you back off the intensity of the background a bit?

I'll see what I can do about the background.

Thanks for the kind words.

Ditto - but they are both wonderful. Something about the lighter one draws me away from the flower. I would tweak the darker on just a teeny weeny bit if I had to, big as is, it is compelling. D

Thanks for the vote and the kind words. I will work on the dark one a little more.

If I had to choose, I'd pick the light one. But if I had my druthers, I'd choose one in between the two. The first one looks good, but the background is too light. The second one has good contrast, but the background is too rich.

the dark purple and yellow remind me of the colors I painted my shoes in high school.

(Of course your wife is right)
