I may not understand your question exactly, but you can remotely trigger your D500 with your cell phone.

I just got the Aodelan Pebble for my D500. Works great either wirelessly or cable. I had ordered from Amazon a different one (Pixel) which focused the camera but it would not release the shutter. I returned it. I like the Aodelan better anyway. Simple and it works.

I bought a IR remote on eBay for about $2.00. Came complete with a battery
and works great with my D3200. Just had to wait a week while it was shipped
from China. Works on both the front and rear IR detectors. You can buy 19 of
them for $39 and have enough left for a coffee at Mickey D.

Good Morning Folks...
Been searching Amazon for a remote shutter release for my D500,(Nikon). Nikon branded equipment is so costly, and after market stuff really cheap by comparison.
Does anyone have experience with any of these after market products? Ya know, Fathers Day is coming up and questions are being asked.
I appreciate any information offered.

Thanks, Frank

Happy fathers day....http://camranger.com Do more than just trigger your shutter....
Not only can you wirelessly/remotely activate the shutter but you can do all your settings on your iPAD to remotely( up to 150') adjust all camera settings.. Ideal if you do any wild life shooting, or want to take candid shots of your family..... In live view you can frame and focus... instantly change ISO, Av & Shutter... If you cant make out details on the cameras tiny LCD monitor then you will love when you have an iPAD hooked up to it.... I do lots of studio work and its a god send....

Exactly what I was saying.....and with snapbridge (included with the camera) you can use live view! Not sure why anyone would want to spend more money to get something you have to plug in, when the camera has the ability built right in?

I guess if you have money, it's fun to spend. I wouldn't know.

B&H sells several brands including OEM, Vello, and others. I would go for the RF ones that do not require line of sight if it were my choice.

I used the Neewler (I think, sp? from China) I bought from Amazon for $15 or so. It took forever to arrive. It worked fine. I also saw some recommendations for the Vello form, I believe either Amazon or B&H. Back in the film days, I used and still have the $100+ (1990's $$) Canon remote. The cheepie did it all.

This looks like a nice set-up. A lot less expensive than the Nikon WR-10 that requires an adaptor to attach to the D500. How sturdy is the receiver? Do you leave it on your camera or remove it when not in use? I'm asking, because I broke my EXPENSIVE set by leaving it on the camera!

Seriously, Use the app specifically for your D-500. Snapbridge allows you to live view and focus through your smart phone, and trigger it.

I'm not exactly thrilled with the speed of using it for transferring files to my phone, but the other features are my 3 favorite things.

1. Free
2. Works VERY well
3. Free.

With, the added bonus that it's FREE. (not sure if I mentioned that)

Don't you need a strong WiFi for this to work?

Frank, 1 I'd get a wired remote and 2) go to bhphoto.com and get a Vello (B&H's own brand) shutter release for your D500. Should be between $8 and $12

Why, when it is built in? Does the vello allow live view?

I find it extremely valuable.

I use this one on my D500 and have been very happy with it. Only $35.

That’s what I use. Works flawlessly.
