Good Morning Folks...
Been searching Amazon for a remote shutter release for my D500,(Nikon). Nikon branded equipment is so costly, and after market stuff really cheap by comparison.
Does anyone have experience with any of these after market products? Ya know, Fathers Day is coming up and questions are being asked.
I appreciate any information offered.

Thanks, Frank

I don't have a D500, but my third party, wireless shutter releases all work (or worked) well. I've bought a number of them because I've lost a number of them, not because they broke.

D500 has Bluetooth I believe, check for an app for your phone to control the shutter release.

I use Yongnuo flash triggers that come with a cable that attaches to the port on the cameras. Make sure what you get is compatible with the D500. I use an old model RF 602, but the newer RF605 is much better. You get a pair, and they duplicate the half-press. I've tested it at 300 ft line of sight (football field) - and they work just fine.

Alternately Yongnuo offers a dedicated flash trigger that has other features like a timer, intervalometer (redundant in many Nikons), long exposure timer, etc

These have proven very reliable and cost effective - been using them for 6 yrs.

I'm poor and also cheap so buy off-brand items for my Nikons. I've never had a problem with anything but then I'm not a working pro anymore so don't stress my gear.
