I have the Nikon wireless set and it died. I now use the Hahnel Captur range and they are excellent, I don’t have a d500 but they work on d10p, d60p, Df and D810.

Try Neewer on Amazon. Inexpensive, works fine.

Good Morning Folks...
Been searching Amazon for a remote shutter release for my D500,(Nikon). Nikon branded equipment is so costly, and after market stuff really cheap by comparison.
Does anyone have experience with any of these after market products? Ya know, Fathers Day is coming up and questions are being asked.
I appreciate any information offered.

Thanks, Frank

Vello Freewave.

Another vote for the RFN-4s. Use it, trust it, love it. Works better than I expected prior to purchase.

I use Cactus IV's. Very reliable. Remove batteries when not in use.

Seriously, Use the app specifically for your D-500. Snapbridge allows you to live view and focus through your smart phone, and trigger it.

I'm not exactly thrilled with the speed of using it for transferring files to my phone, but the other features are my 3 favorite things.

1. Free
2. Works VERY well
3. Free.

With, the added bonus that it's FREE. (not sure if I mentioned that)

I have several models of the Vello Freewave, didn't pay list for any (on sale/used B&H/used e-bay) $20 to30 and all work very well with all my cameras....hard to go wrong with them.

I have a Yongnuo model for my D7000 and really like it. It's a radio transmitter/receiver combo, works with my TTL flash, operable out to several hundred feet and doesn't need line of sight.

I know you say wireless is important. My DSLR's have IR sensors for remote, but they are on the front of camera which is useless to me. I don't take photos with myself in them!!! I only use wired remotes for my activities.

Another vote for the SMDV RFN-4s. http://www.smdv-usa.com/shutter-release.html .
Small, simple, no wires to a box on camera's hot shoe. Can leave on when stowing camera.
Receiver uses camera battery, but can turn it off to reduce battery drain.
Multi-channel. Good range. No trigger delay. Transmitter uses single cheap AAA battery.
Be sure to get the most recent version, which has a more flexible antenna and better contact pins.

That’s the one I use for my D500. Works well for me too. Reasonably priced. Bought from B&H.

Check out free android apps for phones, etc (probably IOS too) that I think will give you shutter release control without a new device at all. I think they work with wireless cameras.
