Exactly! The software is still installed on your machine. It's not like it's somehow fundamentally different than a standalone.

It wasn't the $10/month that drove me away, it was the initial terms of service which were odious. Sure, Adobe eventually changed them to be more agreeable, but what is there to stop them from doing it again? I am happy with my switch to DxO, even though it does not yet have all of the features of the Adobe products.
In new computer cannot open old Canon Raw. Can in older computer. Has to be the Microsoft 10 hang up. So have to use Canon raw opener for the old raw as well as the new. No Fun
Will not purchase going to delete the trail and live with Luminar 2018. With look for a photo management program other than that Luminar rocks
I bought the stand alone LR6 last year. When I get tired of using it, I will go with a non-Adobe product.

I'm pretty sure that can be fixed. You want to try?
You can stick to your older version of Lightroom and convert the files using the Adobe DNG converter.
HotTexas,
Tell me some goodies about On 1 Raw 2018. I have looked at it to add to my Elements 13 and it seems to be not impossibly complicated and offers a lot of features. Does it handle focus stacking? Am also eager to know if the HDR program is strong as well as it's panoramas.
Thank you ,

Does anyone know if On 1 Raw 2018 offers a complete version of Adobe Camera Raw? The version in Elements 13 is pathetic.
Thanks,

Uhhh... you're not going to get
Adobe Camera Raw in other than an Adobe product. On1 2018 does have its own raw converter. Their website should list the cameras that are supported and their trial version should let you figure out if it meets your needs in terms of conversion and adjustments.

For me it is not a matter of $10/mo. I simply don't like subscriptions and instead of explaining why I will give an example: In last of Microsoft Office required updates, MS made a complete mess in the data import wizard. They will fix it eventually, but it will probably take months, and in the mean time we, the users, we suffer without any way out. With a standalone licence one can go back to a known good working version and skipping a particular update. Yes, I realize that sooner or later all applications will become subscriptions, but I will drag it as far as I can with the perpetuals I have, although they may be more expensive even in long run. I don't believe that Adobe canceled the standalones out of philanthropy or to save us money, but probably to make more.
Just my opinion, not an attempt to start a new topic or turn this one in a particular direction.
I COMPLETELY agree with this last post and why I do whatever it takes NOT to have a subscription that is linked to automatic debit or recurring billing. When THEY make a mistake, try to get that fixed! GOOD LUCK! THEY have YOUR account number!!! I print only the best of the best of the best of my photos, that's when I want the RAW file(s); otherwise I print proofs from the JPEG's generated by the camera. People who see the proofs wouldn't know if it was printed from a JPEG or TIFF anyway and would not care. My proofs are 8" X 12" and give me an idea what the image will look like on paper! That's all matters to me at that point!
Isimpkins,
Good point. Comes from not thinking that through very well. Perhaps I should just consider the fact that the RAW converter couldn't be much worse than in Elements.
Thanks,
