Contacted Adobe via chat to get an upgrade to my older version of Lightroom (Version 5.7.1) because I shoot RAW with a D850 now. Determined I need version 6.13 minimum. After nearly three hours on my day off and being bounced around from one person to another, at least six, none of whom had names I could pronounce, it ended with "that version has been discontinued". Sales kept pushing me towards the Cloud. NOT! There has to be another way? The only thing a cloud is good for is blocking the sun from shining! Grrrrrrrrrrr...................

DNG might work. Just don't delete your original NEF files.

Buy it here without sales tax:

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1132136-REG/adobe_65237578_photoshop_lightroom_6_download.html

If you want to buy it direct from Adobe (I think at a discounted upgrade price) follow these instructions:

What is lost in an Adobe DNG conversion from my original D850 NEF file?

Yup ,I got affinity for $39.99 on sale just before Xmas , regular $50-. Try Best Buy , they might have it (6) on the shelf in store. You get the actually disk & then do the update online to 6.13 Wich has the D850 upgrade.
Good luck & have fun.

The Cloud will not kill you. . .

Three years and I am neither bankrupt nor dead - along with the 15,000,000 other users that get value out of the packages they provide. if you can afford a D850, why not splurge $10/mo to get software that will bring out the best the camera can provide?

I use On1 Raw, DXO, Capture One and other apps to fill in the gaps - not that there are any other "real" gaps, but sometimes I can do things a little faster with the other applications. None can replace the functionality of Lr and Ps together.

In my opinion, Adobe should have use the name "Cloud" for their subscription model. The only aspect of "Cloud" in the products is that periodically the products "phone home" to verify your subscription is paid.

Having the "Cloud" version since the beginning, I love knowing that my software is kept up-to-date. New features and bug fixes just show up.

When I purchased my D850 -- I knew that my Adobe products were ready for it.

Do not fear the "Cloud" In the long run, because I purchased all the Adobe upgrades as they came out, I have not spent more money with Adobe, and I am automatically kept on the current version.

I’m in the same situation, and I’m moving to the new ON1 18.1. You can get a free thirty-day trial to see if you like it. I purchased it through an introductory offer for $69.00, and I’m amazed at some of the things it will do.
It will work as a stand-alone, or you can use it as a plug-in in your LR.

Just how many releases and for how long do you expect any software house to continue service? Absolutely nothing wrong with the cloud version. It does NOT mean you need to in the cloud or connected to do any work. You can do your editing on your laptop in a power failure using your battery if you want.

Agreed. Not sure why everyone freaks out over $10/mo. When I purchased stand alones, it cost me more annually than CC does.

You could have looked it up yourself in less than a minute....

This one for the latest available version of ACR for your program (as well as the one it ships with, and the latest compatible version of ACR)

and this one for the version that first included your camera (or the minimum version you need for your camera)
