I do not wear neck straps, they get in my way. That said, if I did get one, it would have a wide padded part that would hit my neck just right.

I decided to remove the Canon strap for a couple of reasons, but because I was traveling to Europe. Find one that is comfortable for your neck, shoulders.

I've had an OpTech strap on my Nikon D800 for nearly six years. It's the most comfortable strap I've ever used plus I can connect it to my Op Tech wrist strap should I need to use it using the quick release clip.

Due to a neck injury the around the neck straps that came with both my Nikon and Canon cause pain. I have an over-the-shoulder strap that makes it more comfortable to carry.

I love my canon strap! never failed can pull a truck with it

I dumped the kit strap....Use only a Black Rapid Sling, works like a champ and so comfortable with almost any lens, especially the telephotos. Also as mentioned, the Slidelight strap is another excellent choice.

Advantages of a cross body strap: No weight around your neck; the camera is down by your right hand, so you can secure it; the camera is much less visible/obvious to someone who would want to take it; the proper width strap, suited for the size and weight of the camera, will put little stress on the shoulder. Add to that, if you check out the BosStrap web site, you will see a line of such straps that do not take up the space of the tripod socket on the camera, but rather hook up to a camera strap lug. Been using it a couple of years now, and it is great. With no padding, it takes very little room in a camera bag. Good luck with all the advice! JimR

I have found the straps that are included are usually uncomfortable for long periods of time. I prefer the Optek brand which are considerably more comfortable. They are available on their website, or at Amazon and B&H.

I have a vintage (late 70's) strap I got from Disney. It has a series of black silhouettes of Mickey Mouse against a grey background, the strap looks like a strip of 35 MM film. It's wide and comfortable.

I chose a strap that is comfortable around my neck/shoulder. I find the Nikon/Canon straps that are shipped with the cameras too narrow to be comfortable. I don't make those decisions based on what is written on the strap.

I shoot a Fujifilm Finepix S1 which is not a heavy camera. I have found that wearing any camera strap for any length of time to cause neck and back aches. I bought a harness system (TrueSHOT DSLR Camera Harness Strap System) from Amazon for $18. No more aching neck no matter how long I wear it.
