However, when all of the, prior to Trump, respected news agencies, who pride themselves on honest reporting, report and verify the institutional racism that is prevalent in places like Baltimore, Fergusen, MO, or Chicago, it is hard to call it an abberation.

I remember living in Coral Gables, FL in the 50's, and being excluded from many of the resorts on Miami Beach because we were Jews. I remember getting the shit beat out of me in high school because "we don't want no fucking Jews in our school". I served this country for 8 years in the Air Force, from 1961-1969, during the height of the Cold War. I experience physical abuse in basic training because I was that "kike" from New York. The only fight I had in the service was with an airman from the South who called me a dirty Jew and coward when I didn't want to fight him. I ended up knocking his ass out. Today, anti-Semitism, and racism rage across the country and Europe, fueled by rhetoric from the highest levels. So, if you don't see the racism, anti-religious bigotry, and white supremacy ideology becoming ever wider and more strident in this country, then regardless of your so well-reasoned responses, you are truly an idiot.

I was raised in the military, my children are serving in the military, and your claims of having been abused in the military based on your religion, do not ring true. Based on what you write I would guess it is your attitude and character that got you in trouble with other people. People who go around looking for trouble usually find it. As Will Rogers said: "The biggest troublemaker you’ll probably ever have to deal with, watches you from the mirror every mornin’."

Another Will Rogers quote apropos this thread "Do not corner something that you know is meaner than you." That might just be me.

There will ALSO be black bad actors shot by black law enforcement and white by both white and black. However the LATTER will never be given the same amount of press coverage (if any) because of the ratings agenda of the press, and the race mongering of those who find it politically advantageous. And race is nearly always a trumped up issue. The REAL fact is that bad actors are being stopped from doing bad stuff by some people who risk a lot to do their job, and the skin colors of the people involved has nothing to do with it!

No, the REAL fact is that we’ve a problem with some people taking their authority too far and the refusal of you and those like you to even acknowledge that it exists, means there will never be a serious discussion about finding a solution. Your only suggestion is to supress those who voice their opinion and protest, by keeping them in tunnels. Don’t find a solution to the problem, stifle the protest. At least you didn’t say cages.

There is no attempt to stifle protest. No one is stifling anything by simply not having the entertainment to take the stage until after the thing they would have protested has been concluded. However there is a misconception about the right to protest. Rights especially "civil rights" are rights only until they take away other peoples' rights. In a civil society, even the right to protest has limitations - the limits are the rights of others. The entertainers have a right to protest, but not to do it on our dime. People pay big money to go to a game at which they have a right to express their patriotic participation in the anthem of their country. They did not pay to watch a display of disrespect for it. They have a right to have what they paid for. The entertainers are well paid for doing the entertainment - playing a game for the spectators. They are not being paid for a political statement insulting the spectators. So let them make their political statements on their own time, not on time we are paying for. True, we do have the option of simply not attending their offensive display. An option many are exercising. And in fact it would be the ultimate justice to have a complete abandonment of their games resulting in their loss of income as our vote on their political statement!

Thomas Jefferson expressed this very aptly: "Of liberty I would say that, in the whole plenitude of its extent, it is unobstructed action according to our will. But rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others."

This distinction between rightful liberty and the wrongful deprivation of the rights of others has been lost in this activist free for all. But it is real!

As a Navy Vet, white and growing up in Oakland Ca, in the mid 60's, I have seen the Black Panthers come to my high school and voicing their rehotic. Inciting violence among the students. I had my nose knocked to the side of my face and kicked while on the ground by angry black youths not because I did anything wrong to them but because I was a popular athetlic white boy. I was the only white member of a successful 440 track relay team and yet while in the mens toliet using the urnial my relay team member put a gun to my head and asked me how it felt to be seconds from dying!! My introverted sister was the victim in several fights involving black girls. I have seen racism. Been a victim of racism/social profiling and still was the best man at my black friends wedding.

The days of unbias news reporting, if their ever really was, has been replaced with social media cut & splice events to suit their point of view. Speeches scrutinized for key words that then get sewn together to make for a more dynamic article. Impulsive reactions to videos while not understanding the full content of what is being displayed or is this a reaction to something that occured that was NOT caught on camera.

As a Vet I fought for freedom, civil liberties and much more but the NFL is paid entertainment for the masses. As Americans, we have the right to non-violent protest but I think they choose the wrong time and venue to voice their opinions. Many people have different views/ideas/opinons then I do. I listen, we discuss, maybe change my view or not, but at the end of the day we shake hands/hug/kiss and look forward to our next encounter.

It's hard to fly with the Eagles when you wallow with the Turkeys!

NFL players and executives are bunch of chumps. If they have issues, address them like real gentlemen/ladies and put up or shut up. Object all they want but don’t disrespect the Flag that provided them the rights they have—-if they are serious then they should boycott and refuse to play the game. Oh my, they may actually lose some of their remarkable cash. I believe they actually may agree with me that a lot of people will actually find they really don’t need NFL! I’ve not watched or followed since the first kneeling and there’s not much they can do to win me back. My Sunday’s are free and I feel better than ever. The root problem with today’s protests are everyone protesting enjoys expressing their opinion but are not receptive to those with opposing views. Sounds very elementary “ Schoolish.”

So, your opinions are based in ideol.ogy, not reality.

Wrong! I saw these videos on Fox News and heard their condemnation of the perpetrators. Your opinions are obviously based in ideology, not reality.

How many of the incidents claiming police racism were improperly or just selectively reported by a liberal media that jumped to an incorrect conclusion because it fit their prejudice? Ferguson is an example. When the evidence was evaluated it proved that the officer was justified and the whole “hands up don’t shoot” narrative was a fabrication. Mean while rioters were looting and destroying their own communities. In my State, you are legally allowed to use deadly force in defense of yourself if you reasonably believe you you are in imminent danger of serious bodily harm or death. The attacking party doesn’t have to have a gun or even a knife to inflict serious bodily harm. Sufficient disparity of force can result in death. The cop in Ferguson that had his life turned upside down by the media’s false reporting was justified in his actions. Later, after they had done their damage, the media even voted their own reporting of Ferguson as the false story of the year!

Yes and it amazes me how many people just ingest the flagrant distortion of the truth that appears in the press. You would think by now people have realized that the majority press is no longer journalism, but a political advocacy. Just the appearance of the exact same words on every channel should be a tipoff. This week's words were "cherrypick" on the left and "sunlight" on the right. You know you are only getting regurgitated talking points when you hear the same words over and over ad nauseam! Our country right now is being run by unelected bureaucrats who do not care what we think, want or vote for. And we are being fed predigested lies daily.

Nonsense. The problem we have now is a 24 hour news cycle with many outlets competing for viewers with increasing notoriety. True racial white on black violence is almost nil. "Racism" is an epithet thrown about with no reality, except in the minds of the people doing the accusations. I am so tired of everybody using "racism" and "racist" to end conversation. And "diversity" to mean only pigmentation rather than ideas.

With all due respect to your opinion, I have black friends from the inner city who won't drive to my nearly 100% white town to visit me. Why? Because their chance of getting stopped and harassed by the police, and getting ticketed for minor violations, is significantly greater than if they were white. Everyone who lives here knows that the police target those who are "driving while black." Racism exists in the minds of blacks because they perceive it in both subtle and not so subtle ways. This may be hard to appreciate if you have never been targeted because of your race.

Those who take a knee are engaged in peaceful protest. If peaceful protest is chilled, then violent protest will eventually erupt. You may disagree with how they are protesting or what they are protesting, but it is part of the free speech that is guaranteed by our Constitution which gives you the ability to express yourself on this website. This is one of the rights that differentiates us from totalitarian regimes.
