I remember back in 49 or 50 the Hudson Hornet came out with two carbs stock that you could buy right from the showroom. That's when stock car races had to be stock, They were blowing the V8s off the tracks.

The Plymouth Prowler a factory Street Rod from Chrysler built in the 90's or early 2000's was a 6 cylinder. Not sure if V6 or Straight 6. That was the biggest complaint that it wasn't a V8. Otherwise sweet looking car. Great image there OP. Australia has some of the finest enthusiast cars ever made. We were lucky to get some Holden's here in the US rebadged as Pontiac GTO's G8's, and the Chevy SS. A shame to se them go.

It is rare simply because it's not a V8 (I think it's the only 6 cyl rod I've seen). It's a Chrysler 265 Hemi & although it has plenty of get up & go, it lacks that gorgeous V8 exhaust note. Downloading is recommended.

very nice shot of it earl!

Great image!!!!
We used to see a few 6 cyl Hot Rods around here, but not many in roadsters.
I almost jumped on the engine being a Chev or GMC with Webers, I was getting ready to google the Chrysler Hemi 6cyl when I saw the link someone else had posted.LIVE and Learn!!!!!

Thanks, mate. I had a two door Charger Coupe with a 265 Hemi 6 one time & it was so torquey, it would pull away from idle in top gear without as much as a shudder--bucket loads of torque.

Earl.

Lol. It had very short legs. The engine had a load of torque to start with, but it was even more enhanced by a huge diff (from memory, the diff was around 4.2 or something like that). Top speed was only around 100 but it could sure lay some rubber off the mark. With the low diff, it was a thirsty bugger, too. Earl.
