A rare 6 cylinder rod.

The Tii was mechanical fuel injection - I always wanted one too! Sorry to go off on a Weber tangent, and apologies Earl for diverting the thread from an excellent photo (“car guys” just love to talk cars...)
That is a work of art...fantastic looking.

Very sharp ! - I like the processing on this also. But, it is NOT a hemi - I do like the 3 side draft Webers !
Why not a hemi? Lots of 6 cylinder engines had hemispherical combustion chambers - e.g., 6 cylinder Jags from the 1950s on.

It is rare simply because it's not a V8 (I think it's the only 6 cyl rod I've seen). It's a Chrysler 265 Hemi & although it has plenty of get up & go, it lacks that gorgeous V8 exhaust note. Downloading is recommended.
Beautiful shot. Very nicely processed!

Actually it is a hemi (hemispherical combustion chambers) and known as such. It was sold in the Australian market complete with the triple 45DCOE Webers. I did a double take also the first time I encountered one because we rarely see this engine in the US. I know what you mean - you’re referring to THE classic (and legendary) 426 Hemi I believe...
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysler_Hemi-6_EngineRight on, they have all kinds of strange " to us " engines down under.
Very nice photo of a very nice rod! From my Healy days, I remember straight sixes as being about the smoooothest of engines - makes up for any lack of roar!
Great shot and even better discussion thread. Thanks for posting, Earl.

Played with a lot of old Bimmers.... My Tii had the standard installed Mechanical Kugelfischer Fuel Injection. The simpler Ti had the two carb setup. I know a fellow in Eugene Oregon who could have built you an essentially NEW Tii. He advertised his cars as he starts each project with choices on certain items like color exterior and interior. His name is David Lumbra and it is said he actually produces better Tii's than BMW did. It's been a while, since I bought some other Bimmers from him, but last I knew, a Lumbra Tii was fetching over $40,000.
David passed away in August 2016, after a long battle with brain cancer. His son worked with him in their shop. I do not know if the shop is still in business. David was well known in the BMW community for his cars, and his racing setups of 2k and 3 series cars.

Thanks for looking, folks. It got of the track a bit at times, lol, but this wasn't a bad thing & I think we all learned a few things from the diversions.
Earl.
