What kind of fine tuning for the 18-400 Tamron?

On my 7D MK II it took a +4 at the long end. No other length needed any adjustment at all. I used the Tamron Dock rather than in-camera tuning, it works much better.

I am a newbie on this site and am hoping that someone out there has some information to pass along about Tamron's new 18-400mm lens. I am a Canon shooter with a 7D Mark ll and a 6D. I have the Tamron 150-600mm G2 which I have used on an African Safari in Tanzania with good results. If any one has info on this new lens from Tamron I would be grateful.

No one has mentioned that the 18-400 is a crop camera lens and will not work on your 6D only on your 7D Mark 11.....Rich

I also have the Tamron 150-600 G2 and recently purchased the Tamron 18-400 as my walk around lens to replace my Tamron 18-270. The 150-600 is just too big and heavy to carry. It is best used for planned shoots and with a tripod. I'm satisfied with the 18-400 and think it's at least as good as the 18-270. The 18-270 used to stay on my camera 95% of the time and now I suspect the 18-400 will be on my camera most of the time . . .

I think your 18-270 will be dang hard to beat...I love mine & not heavy..

It's a TAMRON crop sensor lens. That means it WILL fit and function on the 6D just fine. Albeit with noticeable vignetting at the wide end of the zoom.
It is ONLY Canon brand crop sensor lenses that will not mount on their own full frame lenses because of Canons choice to add a rubber bumper to the back of their EFS lens mount that prevents mounting them to their own full frame bodies. ALL third party crop sensor lenses will mount and function properly with varying degrees of vignetting.

I just learned something. I was told it was only a crop sensor lens but if you do have vignetting maybe that is why it is mainly for a crop sensor camera but if you can live with that then you can use on FF camera. Thanks for the info....Rich

I'm a newbie too, been reading on this site for about 6 months. I picked up the Tamron 18-400 the second day after it was available from Wolfe's Camera in Topeka and really like it. It cost about the same as my D5500, just about have it figured out now too. I do find it sometimes takes awhile to focus properly at 400mm range when I am a little close to my subject, but most of the time find it is due to me not having my camera set right. Otherwise, produces good & sharp results. I am really thankful for VC, helps steady-out my shaky old hands.

I think anyone would enjoy this lens, at the price, quality and warranty it is hard to beat!

It appears the Tamron "Tap in" dock only supports the 35, 45, 85, & 90mm prime lenses. Is there another model that works with Tamron zoom lenses? If so, I would like to get one.

It works with all recent release lenses, and G2 models. Easy way to tell is the wide platinum band at the lens mount.

I know that already, but thanks anyway. It is not a problem for me.

Buy the lens from a good camera company, and try it. If you don't like it, send it back.

Talked to Adorama about this lens and was told it was designed for crop sensor cameras in regards to to Canon. Would be interested to hear how it does on a full frame. Looks like a great all around lens. Good Luck
