You get next to nothing trying to trade in. I was just offered $37.00 for a Nikor 55-200 DX AF VR lens. Against another lens that cost $400.00 bucks. No deal.

Gee, I guess I won't get much for my Sun/Spiratone f/4.5 70-210mm T-mount zoom. With the pistol-grip stop-down trigger, its getting too dangerous to point in public. Especially in concealed-carry states!

There's your best advise. Trading them in to a dealer and you will never get what you can by selling them out right. See what they will give you and what they sell them for, then undercut their selling price and also accept offers. I'm sure you will sell the then and do much better than trading them in.

I would say e bay is the best but must be posted properly. Honest, priced right and pictures must be posted several pics of each item done well. I buy a lot of stuff there myself and I look for those things as well as the sellers history and rating. If it's your first go at it ,e bay will give you all the help you need to effectively display,word and price your items. If it's Nikon stuff drop me a line and let me know what you have and how much. My opinion on trade ins to dealers is your going to get far less in most cases. Unless you want the money right away, i would ask e bay for help and they may be able to put it up front for you. Also you are forced to buy from wherever you trade. You may also list all your items and offer a discount for the whole lot. We always get less than what we think our stuff is worth because it's worth more to us than others think, after all they are there looking for a deal and if you stuff is priced well, put the price of the item new so the buyer can compare. Everything I buy, I research prices and ratings on so if you make it easier for your buyer,all the better.

Old stuff sells great on e bay if ts good stuff. I've bought thousands of dollars worth of old nikkor stuff they can't afford to make anymore and it's all tack sharp and beautiful.

I've sold a couple camera bodies and lenses on eBay, I watch other auctions of the same type of gear I'm selling to get an idea where to price mine. I haven't had any trouble selling them at a price point I was pleased with. My most recent auction the buyer backed out, long story so won't bore everyone, he got plenty of negative feedback from me and I re-listed the lens. The second auction went off without any problems. My only complaint with eBay is their 10% selling fee plus PayPal takes a bite too. Overall, probably still ahead financially than trying to sell on consignment at my local camera shop.

I do not remember seeing you list gear on the hogg, but my guess is if it didn't sell, it was priced too high or you didn't show photos. I'd try it again after you do some research and price it at a fair price for both you and the buyer.
