"The Good Old Days" weren't necessarily that good. Yes, the "manufacturers" have been messing with our food, but other products are generally made better and are more durable. The profit motive is behind a lot of the misery in the world.

The profit motive is also behind a lot of progress and good things in the world as well

I remember all of them and a few others too. I'm 80. On the other hand my father died at 41, my mother at 49 and my brother at 2.5. Had it been today, when afflicted, they would all probably have enjoyed long years of healthy lives. I also long for many facets of "the good old days", but appreciate the improvements too.
Thanks
Mark

Oh, and the list of side-effects for prescription drugs advertised on television (why would prescription drugs be advertised on television?) is as long as your arm and ranges from kidney failure to heart failure to death. Who would want to risk taking such drugs?

I don't remember the name of the advertised drug but one of the side effects is, Suicidal Tendencies. Who in their right mind would want to take that drug?

How about Carters little Liver pills or "Duffey's Tavern" or "The Shadow"?

This is one of the reasons we need to take the power of voting out of the capitals and put it back in the hands of the public. We have the technology. Take the voting out of legislators dirty hands a watch the $pecial intere$t group$ leave DC like rats off a sinking ship.

What would the "technology" be?? Do we all have buttons we push; yea or nay?? Doesn't sound like your suggestion would work. That, of course, doesn't mean that our system isn't flawed.

I'm 73 and I remember those things. Reckon they got the date wrong on my birth certificate? Or maybe I was just ahead of my time. LOL

I'm not even 70 and I remember these things. It wasn't that long ago we had those things, it's just that they are all gone at once, it seems.

The farmers market does offer some wonderful things, in season. Out of season, they offer the same old junk the grocers do.

how about not having to live off you credit card, because you wages couldn't cover your living expenses. how about the people who never seem able to reach a zero balance.

And the father worked and the mother stayed at home and raised the children. One of the biggest reasons the country is the mess it is today; unsupervised. loved children growing up with no moral fiber.

I remember my Mother giving me a note and a dollar bill and telling me to go to the store(abt 3-4 blocks barefooted down an oyster shell road) give the note to Lara and she will give you a package and the change and hurry home. The package was a box of Kotex wrapped w/butcher paper.

Im 87 and I guess Im just one of the lucky ones to still be on the top side of the grass. I had 15 inspectors working for me in the aero space industry. Only two lived old enough to retire. And I haven't heard from the other guy for the last two years. Average for men was 74 and 75 for woman and going up. Last year they said it was the first time in history that for men it was going down.
