What would the "technology" be?? Do we all have buttons we push; yea or nay?? Doesn't sound like your suggestion would work. That, of course, doesn't mean that our system isn't flawed.

We've elected the last how many presidents with this existing technology. If we can vote yea or nay for people, we can for laws too. It could happen it we try. If we don't try, it won't happen.

Cars that wore out by 75,000 miles. No airbags, seatbelts etc. They would catch on fire in an accident.
Long distance operators - waiting all day to get a connection.
Airline tickets that cost the equivalent of 5 times what they cost today.
If you were a young person and wanted to meet up with friends on a Friday night you had better know where they are. There were no mobile phones. Better for you that that parents couldn't keep up with you. Worse for you if your friends went out and you didn't know where they were. You were stuck at home on Friday night with nowhere to go.

The world is so much better today in so many ways it's almost impossible to list them all. There are some things we miss. Mostly the sense of community. The sense that everyone on the block looked out for each other's kids. Kids could run free all day in the summer and parents didn't worry. Our rule was be home by dinner time. Otherwise we were out all day doing whatever we wanted, taking long bike rides downtown to watch a movie, or going down to the river to swim in our skivvies or do some fishing.

I miss a lot of the past but I really value the comfort and convenience of today.

I remember my Mother giving me a note and a dollar bill and telling me to go to the store(abt 3-4 blocks barefooted down an oyster shell road) give the note to Lara and she will give you a package and the change and hurry home. The package was a box of Kotex wrapped w/butcher paper.

I would call that collusion and you were the monkey in the middle.

Personally, I'd trade what we got today for the good ole days in a heart beat. people were honest, as were most that were in power. If you screwed up growing up the police or another parent would bring you to your parents and it was handled at home. Today, they ruin your life and you end up with 450,000 in legal fees. The authorities are tyrants that bleed you dry when it's not necessary and won't lift a finger when they should. Life is a living hell compared to when we were kids and everyone was healthy then too compared to today with all the poisons they force us to eat.

Especially the elderly, poor (I'm not taking the lazy ones that refuse to work) and the disabled. Try being poor and disabled! They leave you literally to rot and die.
