I remember all of them and a few others too. I'm 80. On the other hand my father died at 41, my mother at 49 and my brother at 2.5. Had it been today, when afflicted, they would all probably have enjoyed long years of healthy lives. I also long for many facets of "the good old days", but appreciate the improvements too.
Thanks

No, we had chamber pots for the middle of the night. Then emptied them in the morning and cleaned them out.

if you are over 75, then you may remember some of the good things from the "good ole days"
1. when people weren't allergic to peanuts strawberries, and just about any food you can think of.
2 rugs, matress's, major appliances that actually lasted almost 20 yrs.
3 drugs that didn't have a longer list of bad side effects than the problems they treated.
4 long flights with friendly flight attendents and decent food.and the customer came first.
5 cars that the average Joe could fix with a few directions.
6 water melons that you didn't have to plug a dozen to get a sweet one.
7 big, ripe, juicy, good tasting produce ie. apples, pears, peaches, and tomatos to name a few. now days the only place to get them is the local farmers market.
8 beef, pork, chicken, and turkey that isn't full of growth hormones, or so bland that you have to over season it . the dark meat always had more flavor, not any more.
all to often progress shortchanges us in important areas.
if you are over 75, then you may remember some of ... (show quote)

I'm going to add one more. I grew up in a tenement immigrant neighborhood in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn. I can remember the "Icea man" coming around on his horse drawn cart yelling, "Icea....Icea.....Fivea centa... tena centa. He had these long blocks of ice and then use his ice pick to chip out the right amount. I can remember picking up the ice chips on a hot summer day. My mother would send me or one of my brothers down to get the ice for the "ice box" It was my brother Timmy's job to make sure the tray was emptied from the ice melting. He forgot just once. My father made sure that would never happen again.

And people didn't start falling apart in their 50's from all the poisons they put in our foods and have thousands of dollars in medical bills and half the pharmacy on their shelves. Everyone is Washington is whining about health care, yet not one talks about the poisons they have allowed in our foods, but they continue to turn their heads and let big phamra, the AMA and Satanic sleeze bags like hooker chemical stuff their pockets to ignore the raping of America and Americans.

I remember long ribbons of fly catchers hanging from the ceiling. No air and my mother spraying fly spray.

This is one of the reasons we need to take the power of voting out of the capitals and put it back in the hands of the public. We have the technology. Take the voting out of legislators dirty hands a watch the $pecial intere$t group$ leave DC like rats off a sinking ship.

A fine point, Mark. I'm with you. The glass is at least half full. (not that I don't miss some aspects of those good old days).

I am 75, and remember most of those things fondly. I also remember:
Cars that would stall for no apparent reason.
Fixing several flat tires a year.
Banks being open only during "banking hours", and you needed to use the banks.
No air conditioning in cars, and swamp coolers in the house.
No stores open on Sunday.

how about not having to live off you credit card, because you wages couldn't cover your living expenses. how about the people who never seem able to reach a zero balance.
