I must truly be a redneck then. Born, raised, and I'll probably die right here in the county I was born in. And my family tree has many branches that twine about themselves like a field of mornin' glories. And thank goodness my brothers are adopted :)

I live year around in a Winter Texan Park and I listen to them when they give the reasons they are here. Many of them say they were in Florida but the locals are too unfriendly and rednecks. Personally I don't think being a redneck is all that bad.

BTW DO you know how you can tell if you are a redneck?
Here's a couple of ways: If your family tree has no branches and if you ask a question like, 'If I divorce my wife is she still my sister?'

Wow that probably offends some people...we say around here "you know how to tell if some one is a yankee? Well he tells redneck jokes".

If those folks had nothing else to complain about, they'd complain about that! 'Tis a pity. If folks listen to them, they'll suck the joy of life from everyone who listens. 'Tis a pity!

I've lived on three continents and visited numerous countries
in the process. There are snobby, snotty folks all over, but with just a bit of effort on my part, I was able to find the kind, caring,
hospitable folks. These are the folks that made my stay most memorable and enjoyable, my thanks to them.
I believe that it takes effort on my part, to bring out the best
in others. I have to be a friend, in order to have a friend.
These folks that have been referenced, don't appear to be willing to extend themselves. Shame, they're missing so much.
Thanks UHH for all you folks do to help our photographic endeavors.

I too feel your pain, I'm not in flordia but in rural upstate NY, there are more cows than people here literally. When some NYC folk come here it's funny to watch them and to listen to them. But as said earlier some folk just aren't happy.

Nothing is ever better than where you were, even though it was so bad there, you had to leave it! Things always look better in retrospect! :) I endured the onslaught of New Yawkers to my adopted town of Stroudsburg, Pa. for over 20 years. They came streaming in after 911 to get away from the taxes, the gangs, the crowds, the guns, etc. Unfortunately, they didn't bring a change in consciousness, so Stroudsburg has now become about the same as what they left. And so I'm back to my roots here in TN, and all I have to endure is all those folks from Michigan! (just kidding!)

I don't think that they are true photographers, because wherever you find yourself in this great wonderful world there is always something of interest to photograph without too much effort. :D

I was sitting in the coffee shop this morning listening while you complained about the weather we are having and how it is always nasty when you come down because we have tropical storms, hurricanes, mosquitos and "no-seeums". For some reason you think that prevents you from photo shoots. Really? I was going home after getting some decent shots of deer, wildhogs and soggy woods. Why did you buy a house here? You griped about your unfriendly neighbors but I clearly remember the old man who lives next door bringing you some of his fresh caught fish soon after you moved in. He & I were fishing off his back porch and he thought he would be neighborly. You cut him off and shut the door in his face. He does, after all, live in that run-down trailer at the end of the road that you and your neighbors would like to get rid of. He has lived there more than 50 years and is close to dying so you will get your wish. He was there before there was even a road . The first snow Birds to move in have been there 10yrs and seem to avoid the woods. You ought to talk to him. He has a lot of great stories about the wildlife that used to be around him & his family and could show you some great places for photo ops. He is a well known author and philanthropist. He'd be great to add to your name-dropping list. You won't know this until his obit is written. Your wife said you needed to go to the Miami Zoo to shoot some wildlife. Did you know there is a lot of marshes, preserves and state parks near you where wildlife and flora abounds? You implied FL Natives are all rednecks and said how much you preferred socializing with "your kind". Boy! Are you missing out! We have great BBQ's and fish fries down here in the "ghetto section" as you so nicely called it. I may be a low class redneck but if someone says "I wish you would get me a picture of a gator" I would NOT go to a zoo! If you are not interested in the people & life in FL and continually whine about "home" and how much better your pictures turn out there, you need to go back. You are only here 5-6 months a year. Why? Status? You certainly aren't happy moving back & forth and are usually on road trips in your motor home. I am a proud Native and have actually made friends of some Snow Birds but some of you need to be extradited back up north. I hope ya'll are first.
Sorry about the rant I feel better. ps: when you go take the Mouse...

Your rant was spot on...   ...I'm not a native Floridian but I have lived here 43 years...my 3 children and grandchildren were born here as were my 3 sons-in law...I'm blessed to live here...the greatest fishing in the world is right here in Florida...I have a hat that I wear when the snow-birds come down and complain...it says...We don't care how y'all do it up North...I'll have some smoked turkey...garlic bread and sweet tea...please..........

Checking in from Illinois -- Folks in my little circle here consider time in Florida as golden time and literally count down the days until their next visit to the sunshine state.

Australia. Now there is a real country. Second only to Texas.
Long Live Both of Them!
