New redneck pickup line-----------Nice tooth.
You mean if the tooth brush had been invented up north it would have been called the teeth brush?
Hal,
I like your kind of humor

Second only to Texas in what ... Livestock molestation?

What does that mean? "Livestock molestation" I don't get it. But back to the original post....If a neighbour came over & offered me some freshly hand caught fish for me to enjoy, I would invite him in & enjoy a lovely afternoon cooking said fish & regale in the stories he could tell me about the area, his 50 years growing up in the area, his current local knowledge, and then thank him dearly for his kindness & thoughtfulness. Those people who shut the door in his face should be...........can't say what I really want to. It's not a neighbourly thought.

Long Live Both of Them!
I've never been to Texas, but like most people I think I know a fair bit about it so I believe you, but would argue that Texas is second only to Australia. lol I agree 'long live both of them!  One for Texas and one thumb up for Australia
If I'm not mistaken, Brisbane was the large seaport where I spent three days while we were unloading a bunch of airplanes from our aircraft carrier in 1943.
I imagine it's a bit larger now than it was then. I do remember that the local population made sure that our crew drank every pub in town completely dry.

Jolly 1,
Thank you for your service. As I read your post here I thought of a Liza Minelli song, "Those where the days my friend". But however, seriously thank you. You help to make our country a better place to be

Hello jolly1, Thank you for sharing your experience in Brisbane during WWII. Also, please accept my sincere gratitude for serving to protect our values and way of life.
My dad served in the South African Tank Corp, in Egypt, against Rommel's army.
General MacArthur who was Supreme Commander of the South Pacific Region had his GHQ in the AMP building, in the CBD of Brisbane, from 1942 until 1944. The AMP building was then the tallest building in Brisbane at 8 stories.
For a comparison of the change that has taken place in the intervening years I have attached a picture of a Brisbane Cityscape taken with my iPhone. I hope that you enjoy it.
I'm sure that you and the crew did not require your arms to be twisted to deplete our stock of beer!
All the best mate.
Brisbane River and Cityscape Aug 2011
Was that a sales pitch for your neighborhood???
I can't wait to get there...fish, take some pics of the natural wildlife and, probably most of all....enjoy your "redneck BBQ's"!!
Kick the other guy out so I can come & enjoy "paradise"!

I'm from Brooklyn NY, so I'm definitely a dang Yankee. I will let you know though, I'm one of the nicest Yankees you will ever get to know. All I want to tell you Rednecks is
"fu get about it." Don't let any Yankees come down to your neck of the woods and slam your town. I enjoy every locale that I've been to and hey, I've got family in Pensacola, Fl.
