I found an app specifically for Canon titled "EOS Inspector" for $1.99 at the App Store. It works fine. SandRooots

A link may help. Have you tested it on a 5D IV?
No I have not. I've got a Rebel SL1. Sandroots

As a lifetime Canon shooter, it royally pisses me off that Canon does not make it easy to get shutter counts. What are they trying to hide? I think I will call Canon service about it.
Look for CanonEosDigitalInfo_v1.4_SDK_v2.14
That may do the trick
Take a picture. Look at the metadata. If you don't know how, do a search on exif data. In the metadata is all sorts of information. You should find shutter count
No, it's not. Nikon includes count in metadata - Canon does not.

Sorry. Wrong. You don't know what you are talking about in this situation. You're probably trying to help but 'alternative facts' don't actually help.

UPDATE: I spoke with a tech at the Canon Service Center and according to the tech there is no way for the consumer to find the shutter count themselves. Only Canon Service is able to provide the information. According to the tech, Canon only wants Canon to get to the shutter count information. Canon will provide the information if you send your 5D IV into them for service.

So now we need someone with a 5D IV to try EOSmsg and see if it works. I have nothing against Canon, but you don't always get fully accurate information from vendors.
Are you willing to try?
Why do you care what the shutter count is?
My understanding is that shutter count to a camera is like mileage to an automobile. The higher the count/mileage the more likely you'll need a repair or a replacement. Sandroots
Well on 2 canon bodies I have 300,000 frames in the computer, and have deleted a lot. I am sure that I have way over 250,000 on my 1DX, so I guess I'll shoot until it quits.

I've found that if you have FoCal Pro, it will provide the shutter count for the 5D Mark IV.

Hey, i was just trying to help. I had no idea that shutter count was not a standard metadata item. Is it really necessary fir such a nasty response?
