ALso, there's no way to search for a particular picture ... Sigh.

If you can remember the photographers name you can search with that. The caption on the photos itself do not seem to be searchable, though I could be wrong on that also. I think breaking it up into multiple threads will make it too hard for the judge. At least this way they can start at page one and work their way through making notes as to what page the pictures they like are on.
You can also bookmark photos or pages that you like.

Hello Frank Bruce. Your "drained" photo is wonderfully composed. But something's not quite right with the color. Did you cook it too much?

It could be your screen settings. Your color may be too flat which would cause your edits to be inaccurate. BTW, I like the cars photo as is. I like the effect, very artistic.

I am drawn to these picture. The black and white and subject matter really tell a story about where you live. Nice job.

My lovey neighborhood includes the Great Smoky Mountains. Here is a picture of a bird I took last week during a visit to the Cades Cove area. I am a fan of picnik which I used to photoshop the picture. I do tend to overdo it but would love to be critqued!

In my opinion . . .. this is a little too centered - if you left a little more room to the right of the bird . . . I like the B&W vignette, but it seems like the feathers are a little washed, too - was that your intent? I bought a superzoom so I could get images of these living jewels!

The subway station is a wonderful, moody picture ... perfect for black and what and that special graininess it offers. Like them all, but that last one brings back so many memories of growing up in New York city and riding the subway everywhere. Thank you!

Thnk you. The history of the underground tunnels in Saint Louis goes back to Civil War days When Robert Lee was an engieer officer and a friend of Grant. Saint Louis was occupied by both the Confederiat and the Union.I will post a photo later today. My history is short as ....... oh my mind

You can PM me on this if you like. I'm a serious history buff and this is new information for me. I'm currently reading a book called "Original Meanings" which is supposed to be a history of what the guys who wrote the constitution really meant but is actually about how they compromised their way into endorsing slavery. Kind of takes the bloom off the rose of our founding fathers.

I think having a contest is interesting and it gets us out and about doing what we love to do and having an audience helps our photography skills grow through feedback and discussion. With that said, here are three images for your consideration.

MWAC wrote:
Welcome to Ugly Hedgehog's very first Photography Contest. This will be a community run Bi-Monthly contest, open to all members of Ugly Hedgehog.

The rules will be relatively simple.
1. Entry to have been taken in the last month unless otherwise specified by the contest host (please do not go thru your achieves).
2. Theme will be picked by the Contest Host.
3. Contest will run for 2 weeks, after which the Contest Host will pick the winner.
4. You may enter up to 3 photos per contest.
5. The entry must be your own work.
6. Entries to be uploaded directly by entrants to the Contest Thread.
7. Contest Host will be determined by the previous Contest.
8. New rules may be added as the Bi-Monthly Contest grows and morphs.

I do hope that the Contest Hosts will provide feedback as to why they picked the entry that they did, but please remember this is for fun. I have volunteered to manage the contest overall, that does not mean I will judge entries (unless I am the Contest Host that week), or sway judging.

So with that, here is the first challenge:
Theme: Your City/Neighborhood
Due: October 30, 2011
Winner will be selected by: November 4th

Please post your entries in this thread for consideration.
Good Luck and get there and shot something!
