Crew shortages, poor maintenance, most ships not seaworthy or permanently moored, the occasional sailor beheaded in London ... The Limeys don't even have seaborne fighter planes any more.

The UK is building two Brand new Aircraft Carriers, one to be named the Queen Elizabeth. The US Navy now has about 10 active Aircraft Carriers, more than any nation. China has two Aircraft Carriers now, one old one bought from Russia they are restoring. The number of American warships now is the lowest since the pre-WW2 era. The Department of the Navy keeps saying we don't need a great number of warships anymore, but IMO we need to build more. The Navy Department says America has advanced technology to offset new expensive shipbuilding. America still has the greatest Navy, despite downsizing.

From whence comes the bizarre claim that "The British are the only ally the USA has..." Or that my citing to an article wound turn the Brits against the USA?

As to the facts, the numbers are in the article, and the gutting of the Royal Navy is no secret.

TRIVIA: The British lost an entire Arctic expedition to scurvy, even though they took a good supply of limes. Kudos to whoever knows why this happened.

The British are not the only Ally the USA has. There are Germany, France, Australia, Israel, Canada, and of course the UK. The Pacific Allies are the Philippines, Japan, and South Korea. The UK is recognized as the most important European Ally to the USA, and South Korea the most important Ally in the Pacific military-wise.

There are quite a few more Pacific allies. Singapore would be one of the highest rated both economically and militarily as would be Taiwan. Japan will probably be forced to rearm which of course would vault them to the top and make them more important than all of the other Pacific allies put together. Australia of course should be added to the Pacific allies.

Australia is now undertaking the building of 12 new subs and other ships , we stand at 6 subs at the moment , we do not need 12 subs as Australia even today would be a very hard country to invade it is huge with most fighter planes needing to refuel just to get from one city to the next , not to forget most rural Australians are armed just like the USA with little water for thousands of km it would be a hard task for any one not to mention where our island sits in the world
no the reason we are building these new ships is at the insistence of our main ally the USA for us to do more to surport them in this part of the world only fair really

Since most of your population is close to the coast an invasion inland wouldn't be needed. Just occupy or nuke the coastal areas and it's good by Aussies. China wouldn't hesitate to do either one if they think it's in their interest.

On May 1942, at the Battle of the Coral Sea, a Japanese invasion of Australia was repelled by US Naval Power. The Chinese Government wants to dominate the Pacific Theatre just as the Japanese during WW2. While America has downsized its Navy, I can understand the insistence of the American government wanting Australia to be seaworthy militarily. The China is building its Navy like never before. And would love to own Australia.
