There is NO substitute for "boots on the ground" - You are quite correct in your assertion

Yep, airpower has often been seen as the alternative to combat troops by many nations. It did not work in the past and it won't work now.

Ken, your xenophobia is showing. We have 3.3 million Muslims in the US. Maybe you think the next president will throw them out and demonstrate American backbone?
Check the facts:http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/12/10/muslim-population-u-s-double-2050-study-shows/
And: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam_in_the_United_States

If he doesn't throw them out, HE can be thrown out.

Read my comment again, SBW. I did not make an assertion. I asked a question in response to Ken's comment "As to the British Empire, the British no longer have a backbone, as shown by the current muslim invasion."
My question in response was "Maybe you think the next president will throw them out and demonstrate American backbone?"
Please note the question mark.
The number of Muslims in the UK is as shown: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam_in_the_United_Kingdom
Probably around 3 million plus by now. That's pretty much the same number as us right now - not 5 times as many. Perhaps you have a link that proves that statement of yours?
I agree that many Muslims do not integrate in any country. They want to emigrate but not integrate into the new culture, style of dress, or customs. This is a great pity as the burka and face veils arouse suspicion. The aggressive behaviour of some Muslims is to be deplored; the Boston bombings here and the Paris and Brussels attacks in Europe are but some examples. Sweden has already begun to deport Muslims who cause trouble, plus they have feral Muslim kids running wild around railroad stations stabbing and stealing from passengers. Sweden thought they were helping refugees fleeing from a war, what they got was nothing but trouble - along with many other European countries who offered sanctuary. Please note that the British took very few but they did give a great deal of money to aid refugees who fled to Turkey, Jordan, and other Arab countries.

You should take YOUR OWN advise and learn to read. It is FIVE TIMES as many as I stated, as a percentage of the population. Simple math and for most not difficult to understand, if you can perform the simple calculation. The UK's percent of Muslim population is just over 5%. The US percent of Muslim population is 1%. That is a factor of 5 in the math I know. Do not need a link for that, very simple math. Perhaps you should brush up on your math skills while you are taking remedial reading.

You are correct. My error. I failed to read your quote "as a percentage of the population". I stand corrected.

Weren't they called something like cheese eating yellow bellies. The UK has cut back as has many countries but its highly trained professional army, albeit smaller, would be worth fighting alongside.

I'm ex-RAF and even I agree ith you. The ONLY escapade the U.S has not used U.K. forces is Vietnam - and look how that ended!!! If the French could'nt hold it (with the help of the Foreign Legion), what chance did the U.S have? The Aussies were there of course, but in too small a number to have any effect on the outcome.
