Why not suggest it at your next meeting. 2 of the clubs I belong to offer short "tips and tricks" at most meetings on a variety of topics; lightroom being one. Other clubs arrange for members or guests to hold special workshops on Lightroom and PS Elements. I am sure your club could do the same.
I don't know your age in life, but many colleges and universities are affiliated with the OLLI program. If you have one in your area, check them out. Ours offers a variety of photography programs, including Lightroom at a very reasonable cost. It is only $20 to join OLLI.

I attended a weekend LR CC workshop a few weeks ago at Maine Media Workshops & College, Rockport, Maine. It was excellent - BUT - as with most classes & courses, it requires diligent application, practice, trial & error at home afterward.

I found the 'hands-on' class that I took from an Adobe Certified instructor to be extremely helpful. It wasn't the cheapest way to go, but for 8 weeks (1x/wk) $168 was well worth it. I was just about to give up on LR CC until I took this class. There should be a list somewhere online of certified instructors. Also, the 'help' button in the Lr software will get you many free tutorials from adobe which are also very helpful. For me, hands-on was the key.

Me too! She does a great job of explaining how to do various tasks in the modules and does so in a straight forward, easy to understand manner. What's more all of the vid's are free. You couldn't ask for more (unless you want her to come to your home and do it for you.

I have, for 15 years, been doing digital photography professionally on computers with Photoshop and various other programs (Photomatix, Portrait Pro, View NX2, Topaz, etc). There is no good way to learn Lightroom. I have spent two years studying it and it is a waste of time as far as I am concerned. It has nothing I need or can easily use and is totally confusing. I know a lot of people like it and I go and give it another shot but get nothing, whatever it is I want to try to do I already know an easier or better way.

I used to think the same way, UNTIL I signed up for Lr CC AND bought the Laura Shoe DVD. After about 2-3 months of daily use, I really like this program and have switched my entire workflow to use it. I am much happier, and PP is a lot quicker now. The non-destructive editing is a key feature as is Lr's ability to get and keep you organized! When I finally switched everything to Mac in December 2015, I also began to tackle Lr. I would not go back. Best of luck to you!

Lightroom is somewhat difficult to get a firm grasp on.
Once you do though, very powerful and fast!
Most people could do ALL of there post in nothing but Lr. I'm up to probably 97% now :-)
Most of the time that I need Photoshop now is just to play :-D
