I have the Canon T1i/500D camera and the following lenses:
Kit lens - EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS
EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II IS
EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III (no IS)
Prime EF 50mm f/1.8 II (no IS)
EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 STM
All 5 of the above are Canon lenses
Prime EF Opteka 85mm f/1.8 (no IS)
Sometimes I feel that I should have another lens that my present lenses don't cover considering my present T1i/500D camera. What lens would you recommend and why---?
Why are you asking the question? It would be helpful to know the reasons.
Quick analysis for an APS-C camera:
EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS - inexpensive lens in the wide to portrait category.
EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II IS - OK lens in the standard to short telephoto category
Prime EF 50mm f/1.8 II (no IS) - inexpensive but OK lens in the portrait category, OK for low light work.
EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 STM - very good value ultrawide lens
EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III (no IS) - pretty crappy telephoto zoom, one of Canon's worst lenses
Prime EF Opteka 85mm f/1.8 (no IS) - pretty basic and a little strange very low cost lens, unlikely to be Samyang, very few reviews available.
Without any further information, and depending upon you budget and objectives I might consider two possibilities if you really want to spend money on lenses:
1) Replace the EF-S 18-55 and the EF 28-105 with an EF-S 18-135 STM as a walk around lens to cover the wide to medium telephoto range with a single lens
2) Replace the EF 75-300 with a used EF 70-300 IS USM lens which will do a much much better job of covering the short to medium telephoto range at an affordable price.
These suggestions are based upon the thinking that you could reduce the number of lenses you have to carry around and improve the quality of lenses you use.
The EF-S 10-18, EF-S 18-135STM and EF 70-300 IS USM would give you a very broad range of coverage for every day use with just three lenses at a moderate investment especially if bought used. The 50mm is useful for low light situations and portraits where narrow DOF is desired. The Opteka is a curiosity and probably mostly harmless at best.
However, as others have said, if you don't know why your current lenses don't meet you needs then why change anything? Go out and take photos or buy a truck load of beer and you'll have a whole shed full of mediocre glass!
Good luck!
