The last time that tried a Mac and Cheese I was stopped up for a week;-).
Yah! I have a son whose Mac just choked and died 'cause they don't know much about the himleich over at the Mac store. They can be clandestinely sweet at times when they're breathin' but when they die, they take your pocketbook with it, and if you're rural... Ya can get PC parts at the 7-11 all night long. And, Anabelle, I wouldn't hijack your thread if you were still having issues. You will notice that I kept my nose out of it. I am glad you figured it out. My hat's off to you. Very inventive, I'd say, and right over the top of all the yellin' that was going on.

Yup. That's the thing with Macs. When they are running, they are great. But you can't fix them yourself. You can't get the parts. You can't even open the case unless you are a licensed Mac technician. They don't run BADLY when they have a problem: they don't run at all. I have owned a LOT of Macs over the years. They are not what I want or need. For those of you that love them, enjoy.
But please, dear friends, do not try to push your preference down my or anyone else's throat. Talk about clogged up for a week, that is very uncool. I respectfully request the right to not agree with you and you should respect the rest of us, too.
Gessman is SO right: if you don't happen to live in or near a big city, you cannot get service for a Mac without shipping it back to the factory. You can buy one at your local Best Buy, or at least at some of them, but if your computer goes belly up (and don't believe that they can't: they can and oh boy they DO), you are deep in the soup and that terrific expensive computer is a doorstop.
Macs do get viruses. The only reason they don't get more of them is because there are fewer Macs and the nut cases who get their jollies making life hard for the rest of us prefer to target the bigger audience. I had Macs and I GOT viruses. If Mac users continue to crow about how you don't get viruses, I guarantee that the hackers who make viruses will take up the gauntlet.
There is absolutely nothing in the design of a Mac that prevents viruses. If you have one and are NOT running protection, you are living in a fool's paradise. And if you think nothing will ever go wrong with your computer, I hope you don't find out the hard way how very wrong you are.
Macs are wonderful for people who don't want to learn anything about computers, perfect for those whose technical knowledge can fit into a thimble. When you want to know absolutely nothing yet run a computer, there's Mac. And as long as you don't have a problem, you can continue to howl how terrific it is.
I always laugh when a friend with a Mac tells me that their computer dropped dead on them and they can't find anyone who knows how to fix it ... and Mac won't even tell them what it will cost if they send it back to the factory ... and they can't afford to replace it ... and what should they do?
"No idea," I say. "I don't have a Mac. I have a PC. Anyone can fix it."
