Thank you for posting samples of your work, Clicker 44. I'm in my eightieth year and I admit that I don't understand it. Then again I don't understand Picasso either, but when I went to his museum in Malaga, Spain, it was crowded with folks who wanted to see his work. Now I do like Monet and other artists of his ilk. So I guess modern art just goes over my head, which is a shame. My favorite modern artist is Alexander Chin, I guess I like his stuff because it is so detailed and is a twist on real life. But that's me and my opinion in no way reflects on your work, or your right to display it here. I'm sure you enjoy what you do and long may you enjoy doing it.

RELAX! You know what they say about opinions! And this forum is full of "opinionated" people, and some of them can be snarky or downright nasty. Maybe you should be in an art blog and not a photo blog - but I for one like your work. But you will always encounter people whose idea of art is a realistic painting of a cow.

These make a pleasant change compared with some of the photographs seen on here.
These pictures are not really my scene but I can appreciate how good they are.

I usually don't like abstract work but you have put together lines, shapes, form and color to make, in my opinion, very attractive work (that is, drawing attention). And I like them!

I love when people say it looks like a child painted it. They have absolutely no idea how difficult it is to create a work of art. Before you criticize, pick up a brush and try it yourself.

Nice work. Very abstract. It looks like the first picture was tipped on end and bears a kitchen scene with a microwave and toaster in there. Whatever it is I like it. Keep up the good work.

Hey Clicker44,
First off don't pay attention to the alpha hotels making negative comments about your paintings. I enjoyed them, and believe me, they are no worse than some of the stuff some people try to pass off as "photography".
Just remember "...technique changes, but art remains the same." Not sure it's an accurate quote from Claude Monet, but it will do!! Hang in there and keep doing what you love. :thumbup: :thumbup: :thumbup: :thumbup: :thumbup:

I'm also an Art teacher and what I try to instill in my students is that they need to illicit some type of emotion with their Art. If is just looked at and passed by it is not a success. Judging by the responses above mine, yours is a success. Whether people like it or not it was not just passed by with indifference! Congrats!

Picasso on steroids. I'm an artist who prefers realism but I like these very much. Bright, cheerful, fun and yes, painted in a childlike way but refined to a high degree. Don't pay attention to the nay sayers here. There's only a few. They like to imply that they are expert judges of art or photography. Their opinions are often due to closed minds. They're stuck in a box of their own restrictions. They aren't able to appreciate anything outside of their own preferences. It's not about you and your work, it's about their inadequacies.

Why punish all of us -- for a few individuals that do not appreciate your work? I like the painting you provided, but I suspect that the individuals that provided comments (like myself) are not professional art critics.
I am just a dumb ol engineer, but I particularly like the Zen Bush for the composition and negative space. I also like the Untitled for the colors. Crabapple at dawn provides me with a little doom type feeling. I also like the space treatment color and lines in "Ms. Rosa Nylen, LLD "
I believe these are some of the type of things photographers are trying to present in their photographs as well.
