Quite the opposite, my friend. I welcome constructive criticism...I will not abide attack dogs or folk who just want to throw rocks. Seems you are the latter.

Look or don't. I really don't care.

No, I am not the latter. I was reacting to your comments when the first (admittedly not polite) comment was from someone who doesn't like the images you posted. Your first comment was a fair reply, he was snarky, so you were also.
The second one where you started sounding elitist and took on a bragging tone, collected and admired the world over", "over $30K" got me upset. Where I come from people don't brag about themselves, if they are that good others will do it for them. A lot of our posters have done that for you. They like your posts and your art. I agree with the comment on how well they are photographed. I would like to know if they are paintings and then photographed or computer generated to begin with? If photographed paintings, as someone else asked, how was it accomplished?
Most of your images are colorful, cheerful looking and fun. They would be good wall decorations in a children's area or posters for those who like that sort of thing.
For that matter I really don't like a huge part of Picasso's work. Or most other "modern" art for that matter. Much of it is just gimmicks supported by critics and pedaled to those who will believe the hype and pay for it to impress their friends with their acquisitions and feelings for art.
I favor realistic work. If a piece of art has to explained to be understood then it didn't get its message across very well, my opinion.
You do have an audience for your work here. So post some more. You said you used to have a different style. Let us see some of those if available.

I like your work. course I am a photography as an art form kinda guy. as the romans used to say "illigetum non carbaromda" (sp?) which roughly translates as don't let the bastards get you down. I have found that photographers with an arts education and painters with cameras provide some of the best photography work. the world of Winfred Wilson is my favorite. kind of identifying in my head with mr Wilson. Would loved to see some of your photography. I am sure it is unique!!! I for one would pay and display some of your work. If you were closer to vero beach florida there are some galliries down here that would enjoy seeing your work. Vero has developed quite a arts and restaurant district. Also blow off the negative comments the only person you are responsible for to like your work is yourself (and your clients) several of your paintings would make excelant ties. your 1st painting has a Leroy nieumanesque quality about it. Realism in art and photography is grossely overrated.

OK, I will

I looked, what is there is not to my taste. There isn't much there for 50 years as an artist. Is the site still being built and populated with things?

I have over 5,000 paintings in my photo library I couldn't possibly show even a small portion. And since I don't want or need to sell my work nowadays, I don't do much maintenance on the website.

Look, let us try to be friends...I apoloogize for any perceived slight. If you will tell me what your tastein art is, I will either fulfill that myself or have a fellow painter do it. Personally, I came here to learn about photography. What can you teach me about?

Hello. I would very much like to start over. I didn't mean to start a ruckus. After all, I'm the new old man on the street.

Friends?

You are too kind, Sinatraman and I love your handle, being a HUGE Francis fan. I just got a tee shirt for volunteering at a local all-jazz station that has the only known MUG SHOT of F. Albert, from New Jersey in 1938. He had been arrested for seducing some guys wife. :-). If I can find it, I will send a pic of it.

I have for the last hour apologized to all in sight for starting such a ruckus, especially being the new old man.

Hey, how about I do this? You give me a snail mail address, and I will send an 8 1/2 X 11 glossy of Winifred Wilson, and if you will pick a couple of my photos I will shoo them along as well. If you see nothing below that you like, we can always keep going.

And I would very much like to learn more about those galleries.

I can teach you how to be a grumpy old retired history/geography/government teacher with too many hobbies to afford them all so I concentrate on reading and photography with a bit of playing with streetcars and trains at the Orange Empire Railway Museum.

As to art, the old masters up through the romantics and some of the newer people who do realistic records of the time things like Remington, Wood, Whistler, Catlin etc. And yes, I love the stuff Rockwell and the other illustrators of the mid century did that I saw as a boy. Add to that the wildlife artists whose work I saw in "Outdoor Life" and "Field and Stream". That will give you an idea of my taste.

Almost forgot David Villasenor, we have two of his sand paintings on our living room walls. My wife met him in the early 80s and got them directly from him. Both of ours are Baha'i Religious pieces though I have gone to museums to see his other works.

Photography, well, a lot of people, but I have a special place in my heart for Ansel Adams. And of course having been a history teacher throw in all the greats from the age of Look, Life and the Saturday Evening Post as well as the great photo journalists and a huge list of those who appeared in Nat Geo and Smithsonian.

Mr. Martin, I was looking at your website and at the bottom of the page in the location settings it says Lambertville MI. I live in Lambertville MI and I was just wondering why a little town like ours would bs referenced on your site?

Welcome aboard fellow traveler! The first rule when confronting the ignorant-know-it-all's is not to reply! I've learned this lately myself. They feed off your replies. By not replying, you deprive them of their goal and will leave you alone.
Screw this type of idiot! Most of them never or rarely post photos but always have something to say about everything else. I've looked at their few postings and can tell you, the reason there are so few postings is evident upon inspection.
NEVER try to prove yourself to anyone...the only person who argues with a fool, is another fool.
I feel better already! Hope you do too!

Okay. I'm a painter by either profession or dumb luck. And I'm told that some of the Gentlefolk in the "hog" might like to see a sampling of my stuff.
Well, remember..you asked for it.

Thanks David, they are excellent. Lacking your 'artistic gift', I have settled for photography. Well, it IS a form of art.
